Anyone that has had a dog with congestive heart failure

If you are having or have had this happen could you give me some of the things that have happed to your pet. My Sister's Miss Penny is a 13 year old Stafforshire terrier and was diag. with congestive heart failure in Nov. of 2002 and given a few days to live. Well, she is still here but now she failing over the last week. My Sister is in great financial straights and has asked what to do and I don't know haw to advise her. If you can give me some factual advice PLEASE do so.
