Brug bloom and leaf ( a cast of a leaf)

Medford, NJ(Zone 6b)

Here is the bloom-

My first double bloomed last night (THANK YOU) Kell. This is Logees double white, although it looks yellow to me. I'm thrilled it opened last night so my mom could see it. She left this a.m. for the airport *sniff* sniff*

Here is a leaf from my monster brug. Love the look of it. While my mom visited we did a few projects *grin*. Working with cement was one of them. I think I'm hooked.

That leaf is pretty cool looking Kristi. Is that something you would be able to walk on . . like for a garden path? Congrats on the bloom . . still no buds or blooms here!

I just love all your leaves. and the flower is beautiful too:)

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

Pretty bloom. Maybe you can use pollen from it, to get a nice Yellow dbl.??

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Pretty bloom and it was nice that your mother got to see it before she left.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Well that is too cool! So you color the cement? Could you make walking stones from it? You need a whiskers, or Rosamond, they make HUGE leaves! So tell us how you make those leaves and what you do with them, Kristi!

The flower will whiten. Lots of different ones come out yellow. I only had this one flower for me with once last year. But it was gorgeous.

Datdog how did you DO that? I have these Monster pumpkin leaves that would make wonderful stepping stones or even tucked in a stone path * which I have not yet got around to laying yet* :S but if you will gimme a link or some basic directions, I am now inspired to create!!!!!!!!!!! Please?

Here is a site that tells how to make these as stepping stones.

That's a fantastic idea....thanks for that!

tiG, any large leaf will do.
Ligularia, Caster Bean, Bergenia, Hollyhock... anything will work. You can even use smaller ones and just use them in the center of the stepping stone with the cement going around them as a border. :)

Thanks RA49- been busy all day today. My mom made those steping stones using the same mix. They turned out great. Still going strong after 7 years.
What I made is a leaf casting, suppose to show the detail in the leaf. It's made with a fine play sand and portland cement.
Here is the leaf finished. Tried to make it look old. I like it. I have plans to make a fountain and some different ones to hang on the fence.
I sure will have some good looking arms when this 'phase' is over! Mixing that cement just about kills you!
