A delightful twisting form makes this plant a stand out.
I just purchased one of these to put in a bog that I have placed between an upper and lower pond....is this the correct place to plant this? Also, it gets very little sun...maybe 2-3 hours a day.
According to the nursery folks it is a great bog or shallow water plant. It takes full sun to light shade so I would think that 2-3 hours of sun should be sufficient for it to grow although it may grow slower in that ligh condition.
By the way, Welcome to DG!
Brenda,
Lupy just sent me one of these 2 mo. ago as I was wanting one. Mine is a little smaller, but will grow up to be like yours. I also got it for my pond and have it sitting on the waterfall ledge. I just love it.
Donna
Isn't it's curly shape neat! Even my DH likes this one ;~)

I just bought one of these plants. The nursery didn't give me much info on it. Currently it is in a flower garden, but I am getting the idea that I should put it into my pond. Do I just put it into a container, then put it right into the water? I want to have this teriffic plant do the best it can. Thanks
pzwillow, I have mine in the pond on the ledge so the top of the pot is about an inch above the water. It has been there almost a year now and is doing great.
thanks for the advice Zanymuse, I will move it to the pond this weekend. By the way, what do you do with it in the winter?
Winter? LOL we have such mild winters that I just left it in the pond. Maybe someone wlse here can advise you on winter care.
Just received one of those plants as a fatherday present, the soil in the pot seems very compact and there is a lot of yellow strands in the middle of the plant. I think it will move to my pond as you all suggest and see what developes
MY NAME IS STEVE AND I LIVE IN PHILA.,I PURCHASED ONE LAST SUMMER WITHOUT KNOWING ANYTHING ABOUT IT. IT HAS BEEN IN WATER ALL WINTER AND LOOKS LIKE IT HAS SURVIVED. IT GETS SUN MOST OF THE DAY IN AN EASTERN LOCATION. IT HAS SOME YELLOW IN IT,PROBABLY FROM THE WINTER,I GUESS. I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO SEEING HOW IT DOES THIS SUMMER, IT IS A CONVERSATION PIECE HERE.
Steve, I am glad to see it can survive your winters. I lost mine to maurading racoons. They destroyed every plant in the pond and ate every fish. I'll be trying this plant again once we get the electric fenc up to keep the coons at bay.
