I'm a new member as of 3 minutes ago. Your "White Pitcher Plant" inspired me to join. I have questions.....is this a house plant? Is it perennial? If so, what zone do you live in? I absolutely love it!!!!! I have to have one!!! Is there any other information you can share with me about it.........how tall does it get? what conditions does it like? Where can I find one? Thanks for sharing!

Wow, 3 minutes and you're hooked lol
That is the attraction of carnivorous plants.
The flower shown is on a stem (scape) of around 2' 4" with the head 2" across.
Questions....& answers
I suppose it could be grown as a house plant on a sunny windowsil provided it can sit in a tray of rainwater.
It is perennial,it goes into dormancy for the winter months.
I'm in the UK but my zone is equivalent to USDA 6/7.
Mine grow in excess of 2 feet.
Boggy soil,I use a mix of live sphagnum moss and peat moss kept permanently standing in water.
Where can you get one,I have no idea as I dont know where you are from :-)
Maybe someone on this site could help you with that!
I understand that they originate from the South East coast of North America.

Hi Flyplantsman,

I think you'll be interested to know that your leucophylla plant is probably S. leucophylla 'Tarnok'.
It's a registered mutation that produces multiple amounts of petals.

Welcome gramgram. Be sure to update your member info to show your zone and area you live in. I live not to far from California Carnivores and they have this available as part of a Sarracenia Species Collection. http://www.californiacarnivores.com/collections.shtml
I also just noticed another new member posted a great photo of this plant http://davesgarden.com/forums/t/453008/

We all hope you enjoy this site and get to meet people in the forums
