The Luck o' the Irish??? Is there such a thing as too much?

Forest Park, GA(Zone 7a)

They say that if you put something out into the universe, it will come back to you. Well, my desire to garden must be a boomarang!!!

I am a newbie originally from Det., MI but have been an Atlanta, GA resident for 20 years now. I have owned my own house for the last 4 years. I am concentratiing on the landscape now. I am so new that I know nothing about bulbs, beds, or seeds. I JUST learned how to plant Hostas!

However, I have been gifted with or have purchased (as fundraiser) the following: Marigold: Crackerjack (American Seed, Zinnia : California Giant Mix (Page Seed Co.), Forget-Me-Not: Cynoglossum Blue (Unknown source), 36 Sword Lily bulbs , 6 small mystery bulbs (roundish, the size of small radishes), 6 Double Pearl Tuberose bulbs (Polyanthes Tuberosa), and 11 Gladioli bulbs (unknown variety), two Amarylis bulbs and another one in a pot (this one is sprouting! Help!!) and
... a partridge in a pear tree!

What do I do with them all? Someone, ANYone... tell me what to do!

Welcome, justjill3! You'll find all the information you need in this one site, the best garden spot on the Web.

I'd start with the plant database - There's a link to it somewhere around ... http://plantsdatabase.com/

You will find a lot of helpful information. I use it all the time.

Welcome to DG.

welcome justjill..........I would say planted it all, but then you might think I'm being a smart allec (ok, don't even know how to spell that) LOL
so anyways, the plants database can be a good start unless you have some other specific questions and then I'm sure someone will come to the rescue too :)

justjill... welcome! Depending on where you are in Hotlanta, everything you have should grow.

I wish I had been interested in gardening when I lived there. 'Course, there was no DG then, so I would have flopped probably, LOL. The soil on my 3/4 acre lot there was so much better than the clay here in the NC mountains and coiuld have been a wonderful garden, but I mostly had grass and shrubs that were already there.

Edited to add that yes, the universe gives you what you ask for, so be careful what you ask!

violabird and all, thank you for the waaarrrrmmm welcome. I almost feel like I've bumped into a 12-step..."Hello, my name is Justjill3 and I am a plant abuser." LOL I AM here to learn how to "help and not hurt". On Garden Foes, I posted photos of some of my plant problems. Anyone who could help would be welcome. Regarding the Swap, I'll plan on attending. I look forward to meeting you all.

Weedwhacker,

Life IS different down here. :-) I think I was adopted. I clearly DON'T miss the cold. LOL. Actually, I JUST returned from visiting my family in Det. My mom is so proud of her garden. And, she should be, too. She has GIANT hostas!!! Any way, thanks for the welcome.

TiG,
Thank you as well. I enjoyed your member page amd am impressed by your ability with brugs. I never even knew they existed until I joined DG. They are WONDERFUL!

DG is a great group!
