I have this plant, but was unsure as to what it was. Please advise me as to what this plant is used for, and the meaning of its "ambrosial taste".

You can eat it? I have a trailing version of this. I think. If you could look in ID forum I would be grateful. It can go from cutting to six feet in about 6-8 months around here. Yours looks better mannered.

This does have a great taste. I have it growing hydroponically. Hope, do you have a pike's nursery near you? They usually have some in the herb section. If not I can start rooting you some, but it may not have roots before it gets too cold to ship.

i had one of these outdoors in my herb garden last year. it certainly didnt appreciate being too hot or too dry. but it has an amazingly potent aroma, i called it oregano on steroids. i used this in italian dishes instead of dried packaged oregano, only used much much less.

I have the light solid green version of this plant - not the varigated. Would love to have some of the varigated, but shipping plant material to Hawaii is a no-no.
I use this oregano in soups and stews. I find it a bit too chewy for eating, so I crush a few leaves inside a large SS mesh tea bag I use only for spices and herbs- easier to fish out before serving the food.
