Howdy! Another new member.... :)

Madison, WI(Zone 5a)

Hi all (and thanks Jo, for directing me this way, somehow I'd missed seeing this forum!) -- I'm Monica, a long-time gardenwebber, and I've decided to expand my garden forum boundaries, lol. Besides, I'm always running across the PDB when researching plants, and I've been using & directing people towards the GWdog for a couple of years now. It was past time to check out this place! I don't have a whole lot of extra time for forum activity, but I'll putz around a bit. :)

Let me see, about me... Been gardening for almost a decade. I'm predominately a perennial gardener, but that translates as perennials, annuals, woodies, and bulbs. Am in the middle of a Hort degree and doing Anna Gresham's landscape design school, but I'm taking a year off from college to just be mommy until the toddler is older. I have 3 great kids, (ages 12, 8, and 2) 3 cats, one enormous dog, and a really fantastic DH.

In my tiny amount of free time (me time) I volunteer at Olbrich Botanical Garden, which I originally began doing to get more hands-on experience with roses (since there I can help tend some 600+ bushes, while there's only 18 in my own garden), although I also work in the rock, woodland, and wildflower gardens as well. I really enjoy volunteering, but can't wait until I'm being paid to work in this field, lol!!!

Happy gardening!

Welcome RubyStar. We have another member from Wisconsin that uses the Ruby_Tuesday username. Is this a Wisconsin thing? LOL!!

Welcome to you too,IMMachka. This place you live...is it a suburb of Milwaukee? My friend mentioned above moved from there to Mukwanago about two years ago. All of you Wisconsin people should have a Roundup sometime.

Again, welcome to you both.

Troy, VA(Zone 7a)

Welcome again Ruby and did you mention roses!! :-)

Waukesha, WI(Zone 5a)

Thanks for the welcome Brugie and Rubystar. Plants are just exploding in Waukesha. Everything looks so beautiful this time of year. Never know from day to day whats going to pop open.

Brugie, The part of Waukesha I live in is about 15 miles from Milwaukee and is about 20 miles from Mukwaunago.

What is a roundup that you mentioned? Still learning about this site.

Have a great day everyone... I have to go outside now and pick some weeds. LOL

Madison, WI(Zone 5a)

Hey Louisa, well, I sort of mentioned roses, but I do suppose "woody ornamentals" doesn't precisely define them, now does it???? Roses are my secret passion, my guilty pleasure, lol. Roses make me smile, cheer my nose, encite exuberance. But I'm a perennial gardener first & foremost, they are the mainstays of my garden.... however, I'll ALWAYS have roses as well!
