About a year ago, my husband dragged home a teensy-tiny, ragged little abandoned kitten he had found. At first, we thought that "Emily" might not make it, but with some good food and care, she grew and thrived.
Emily has always been an affectionate cat and I spent many hours holding her while on the computer or reading or snuggling as she slept with us.
After about six months of age, though, she began to change. She still jumps into my arms and wants to be held whenever I am at the computer (or in the 'powder' room), but she never jumps up on us anywhere ELSE in the house and whines and cries if she is picked up and petted anywhere else.
I don't get it.
The only thing I can figure is that she is a BUSY cat. Busy, busy, busy. Busy chasing bugs (real or imaginary), playing with the other cats, checking out anything that moves, playing in paper bags.... always on the go. I thought that perhaps she resents being 'detained' when she has SO many things to attend to.
The only other thing I can think of is that whenever we haul her to the vet's office for check-ups, shots, spaying, etc., we put her in her cat-carrier in the living room. Maybe she thinks the back part of the house is okay and the front parts are where we 'abuse' her by stuffing her into a carrier. That... or she is still pi**ed off because we had her spayed. LOL.
Anyone have any thoughts on this? Thanks! -- JEAN
