We're still kicking! :)

Spicewood, TX(Zone 8b)

Just a note to let y'all know Kenny and I are still doing well. He's gained twenty pounds since he's been home from the hospital! And talk about a different guy ~ nothing like a brush with death to get your priorities straight. *Grin* I haven't had much time to be on the 'puter as we've been REALLY busy ~ moved the cabin, building a porch, finishing fences (a neverending job), and...

...MILKING THE COW!!!! Yep, that's right, Belle had a beautiful little bull calf last week that we've named Chuck (as in Roast ;). She and I are still finding our rhythm ~ got two gallons at each milking the first day I milked, half a gallon at each milking the next couple days and this morning's milking I got a good gallon or better. The *&%#$%@ goats (aka Pygmy Pests) keep trying to get in the "milking parlor" to get at her feed and that doesn't help matters ~ irritates her and she doesn't let down her milk. We've almost solved that problem ~ getting a new gate soon to finish solving it.

We had her tested and immunized at the vet last Thursday. Barring any positive test results, we'll be drinking the milk come Monday! *VERY BIG GRIN!* I can't wait! Fresh whole milk on cereal, cool cream on peach cobbler, handmade butter on toast, homemade ice cream... I can feel my butt getting bigger already. LOL!

Here's Chuck the day he was born...
