Hi:
I live in Ontario. But I think I've already traded off all the orchids for other plants. No luck with hostas though.

No problem we can be like the major leaguers and have future considerations. But I am a neophyte to shipping plants. I have had some brugs shipped by Liz from Vancouver so will have to ask for advice as to how and when to ship. Also have yet to confirm whether spring or fall is the best time for hostas. I think i heard an expert say that if they bloom before the delphiniums you divide in the fall and if they bloom after you divide/transplant in the spring. Mine are blooming now and the delphiniums have finished but I think the hostas started before the delphiniums so I am confused. Not exactly a new state for me.

I will be glad to trade with you in the future! With the price of mailing packages out now though, I am only doing plant trades a couple of times a year. I'm not sure about the hosta dividing. I did divide some in spring before flowering, and they made the transition well. A friend gave me some hosta in flower that she had divided from her garden that was in flower, the hosta seems okay, but the flowers died...

If you would like to email me your snail mail address I will send some divisions early next month. Then next spring we can see how they made out. If Liz is watching this thread maybe she will give us advice on packaging etc since she does this sort of thing every week. In your area if you have them by mid september they should still have time to start rooting before heavy frost - am I correct?

You have a package en route to you. Should be there Thursday or Friday at the latest. Let me know how they arrived.

Waterford, ON(Zone 6a)

Thank you! I will be looking for the package and will let you know as soon as they arrive. I'm sure they will be fine with the cooler weather.
