Ok, I'm gonna be the ignorant one once again and ask this...........lol
I just "love" those dark background pics but how do you get them? Do you take them in the dark with a flash or what? Ok, you can stop laughing at me now. I'm not blonde, just brain dead on most days.........lol
dark background ?
That makes two of us. How DO you do that to the pictures???
oh whew, glad I'm not the only one :)
You just place something black behind the bloom and voila! I have used everything from black velvet to a black fleece jacket. Barb probably has something fancier but anything black will do.
Oh, well that would make sense then.........lol. Now to find something black :)
Hmmmmm...*evil glint in eye*...I wonder if my Moms finished with that black fleece! LOL
How do you hold up the back velvet/fleece and take the picture at the same time?
see, I didn't ask that one..........lol. I do wonder the same thing though :)
I guess you just prop it up or throw it over something where ever you want it as your background! Eg; Back of a chair. If your Brug is in a pot it would make it much easier as you could manouver everything more easily into position! Sounds like a lot of work just for a photo, but it's often worth it!
I think I would frame a piece of the material so I could hold it behind the bloom and snap the photo with the other hand.
my arms aren't that long, I tried last year. I managed to prop it up on something but it didn't look like Barbaras. I have taken some nice ones at night with the flash.
kell, do you have to shine the light on them, focus the camera and then turn it off without moving the camera hand? only way I can figure it out. I need a third hand.
kell that is so pretty...
I use one of my kids to hold a black table cloth behind the bloom and snap, and snap and snap, then the kids snap cause they get tired holding it for me
I'm curious now kell, how do you get it like that when it's dark out and without a flash. Do you hold up a light?
Kell that is so pretty!! It looks like porcelain.
Gabby holds the light for me, tiG. Everyone should have a Gabbycat in their lives!
Sugar Gabnolia, blossoms blooming
Heads all empty and I don't care
Saw my kitty down by the river
Knew she'd have to come up soon for air
Sweet blossom, come on under the willow
We can have high times if you'll abide
We can discover the wonders of nature
Wading in the rushes down by the riverside
She's got everything delightful
She's got everything I need
Takes the wheel when I'm seeing double
Pays my ticket when I speed
She comes skimming through rays of violet
She can wade in a drop of dew
She don't come and I don't follow
Waits at my feet while I sing to you
She can dance a Cajun rhythm
Jump like a Willys in four wheel drive
She's a summer love in the spring, fall and winter
She can make happy any lady alive
Sugar Gabnolia
Ringing that bluebell
Caught up in sunlight
Come on out singing and I'll walk you in the sunshine
Come on Gabby, come along with me
She's got everything delightful
She's got everything I need
A breeze in the pines and the sun and bright moonlight
Lazing in the sunlight, yes indeed
Sometimes when the cuckoo's crying
When the moon is half way down
Sometimes when the night is dying
I take Gabby out and I wander around
I wander round
I also have a kitty like that, her name is Pretty Girl
awwww Kell you really love that kitty of yours huh? :) my cat is an irritable-----aloof--------demanding *if she is hungry* persian second hand cat---but wow is she a great mouser--and she doesnt even have front claws...she even caught a chicken snake that slithered in the doggy door.
SIL has a headlamp and I realized I can use that to make my crosses, but for pictures it won't be good. I need to teach Emily to hold the flashlight for me.
OK.....I lied. I just thought we needed a little Grateful Dead on a Friday afternoon!
My camera is little, no bigger than a cigarette case. So I can hold it and click it with one hand. I have gotten very good at that. It is all auto..........so I do nothing that requires brain except the angle of shot.
I only need my flashlight to see the object of my desire for my viewfinder does not see in the dark. But if I shine some light on the object, my viewfinder picks up enough of the outline for me to line up the shot the way I want it.
I have found that it matters not at all if I have the flashlight on the object or have it turned away when I take the picture. I used to turn the light away to make the darkness in the background more dark, but I finally realized it has no affect on the outcome at all.
Gabby stays by my side purring! She is actually just happy being with me.
LOL tiG! Great poem Kell. I am not really a cat person. I had a cat once and my mother made me give her away cuz the dog liked kitty nuggets. LOL After visiting Cala, my second born begged and begged for a kitty. I love all my children in the same amount, but I love each one for different reasons. As I said, I really am not a cat person. Well, I caved in before Christmas and we adopted a kitty from the SPCA. The child that wanted a kitty is kind, sensitive, sweet, giving and so responsible. Well this kitty loves my hubby, who does not like cats. This kitty I did not want is my pal. When I actually sleep in my bed (I work third shift), this kitty lays on my chest, licks my face and is still there when I fade out. She follows me to the bathroom and sits on my knees. She sneaks up to my hubby, onto his lap, onto his arm, into his face....She has a way about her. She never has accidents, is happy to eat dog food, as not to be away from us. What is it with cats??? Did I mention, I am not a cat person! LOL
It is a song Michele, Sugar Magnolia.........I took some liberties with it though.......LOL!
I adore cats! Glad to hear you got a sweet one! They are so much easier than dogs and can be as loving.
Gabby was a stray that adopted me at work. My DH was so against it. I kept her at work for several months feeding her there, and going in on weekends. She would come out to my car with me every evening as I left and just sit a few feet away and be so sad. Then November came and with it the rains. She still walked me to my car every night and sat there in the rain. I finally could take it no more, and took her home and told my DH I would bring her back in a few weeks. Well, that cat is so smart, she immediately started to give Tom intense loving and he slowly and begrudgingly responded! It took our oldest cats 2 years to get over the intrusion!
ok..off to sushi...........talk later
Black velvet is what I use.
So, how do you situate the black velvet behind the flower? Do you just kind of drap it and shoot?
oh oh oh oh what is that??????
Whatever it is - I need one!!
me too, nudging you over ever so gently!!
Kell and gone2seed beautiful photos and flowers.
Re black background: I use velvet on a PVC frame with a leg attached on back to hold the frame up. Use clamps that hold plastic on hoop-houses to hold the velvet on frame. Will have to try the night photos. Have been afraid it would change the color of flower.
If taken in daytime, try to take on cloudy day. Bright sunlight will overexpose light colored flowers against the dark background.
oooohhhh.......I need one of those too *drooling*.......lol
g2s ~ a wonderful picture!
That is Rosabelle,just opening.
