Question about trading from a newbie

Lenexa, KS(Zone 6a)

Hi All!

Was wondering if there's a way to search by plant name to see if anyone on DG has it on the Wanted Trade list?

I've got some things I can trade but not sure if there's a quick way to see who is looking for it? Do I just post to the Trading forum that's applicable (seed/plant)?

Thx!
Brenda

langbr, I don't know the answer to your question, but want to welcome you to DG -- the best spot on the Web. I am sure that someone will be along very shortly who can answer your question -- in the meantime, enjoy the site!

Welcome langbr, your close to me,I'm in Argentine,KCK,Not sure if I know the answer to your question,a search will give you all the discussion where the plant is even mentioned, this could take awhile to sort through,I say best to just jump into seed or plant trade forums and ask, very nice folks here,we are glad to share.
Drop me an Email sometime, just click on my name at left it will take you to my page,be sure to put something about Daves in subject, this way it will not be sorted out as junk mail.
I am heading to Family tree later for water plants, maybe we can get together for coffee sometime.

right there on the right side is a little box that says trade list search and that should do the trick.

By the way, welcome :)

it's currently disabled, I was going to suggest the same thing

Wow! What a great response from everyone! Thanks! This is the greatest place on the web! Everyone has been so welcoming and helpful.

Has anyone asked Dave or Trish why the Trade List Search was disabled? I think it would be a helpful tool but imagine it must take quite a bit of horsepower.

Ahhhhhhh, thanks Flowox! After being here a week now I guess I shoulda figured out that DG would have already had that feature! Duh! I'll be patient.

Every night I'm amazed at how much more there is to this site!

Dave/Trish/Terry: If you're listening...... $15 a year is CHEAP compared to what I'm getting! Keep up the great job! I'd gladly pay $25 for what you're providing. I run my own business and know it can be a rollercoaster ride when sucess lands in your lap!

I just joined my first Co-op tonight! Whooppeee! I'm hooked!

Welcome, langbr and yes, you can search for plants offered.

Go to seed/plant trading here: http://davesgarden.com/tl/ and type in the name of the plant you're searching for.

A few hints to help you ferret out all the possible listings. Let's say you're looking for Agastache foeniculum (aka Anise Hyssop)

1) Search by its common name(s) Anise Hyssop or just "Hyssop"

2) Search by its botanical name, both Agastache foeniculum and "Agastache" and "foeniculum" separately.

Why the multiple searches? Well, you don't have to if you find what you're looking for right off the bat. But sometimes we all make spelling errors, and by searching for the words separately, you may find someone who has it spelled wrong, and you wouldn't have known what they had to offer otherwise. Let us know if we can help in any way!
