Pretty sure I got it at Frank's Nursery & Crafts (they're going out of business now). I can't remember for sure though...it's been a few years since I bought it. It's not all that common around here. I can tell you though, I saw tons of them in Seattle when I was there for work.

How quickly does this shrub grow?
-Thanks,

I'd say it's 'moderate'. Not really slow, but not really fast. Maybe leaning towards slow (at least for my location)

Mountlake Terrace, WA

I was informed by a credible person that the flowers and leaves of peiris are quite poisoness. The father of a daughter playing in our yard with my daughter suggested syrup of ipacac immediatly as the girls had been making garlands for their hair, touching the flowers to their lips. No outcome resulted except my daughter hated the experience of syrup of Ipacap. I removed the plant at our doorway at that time - many years ago.
I do not see mention of a poisoness of this plant in nurseries. Is this a concern?
