When your brug is full of growing pods, does that then slow down flower production as it does with roses? My GL is now covered with pods, known and unknown fathers! Now I am thinking that I rather have more flowers all summer than all these pods.
I can't believe I trusted my memory for anything! I had run out of name tags so I started using colored ribbon to differentiate which flower got what. I used gold ribbon first, then ran out and switched to silver for the same pollen. At sometime, I put white ribbon on also......and have no clue what that was supposed to represent. It may have been Maya.............maybe not! I have this tendency to grab an anther from one plant and start walking around with it in my hand pollinating indiscriminately. So much for my breeding program!
In your experience.................
Hiya Kell....I'm afraid it does a little...on mine anyway!
One whole side of a Y on my L'Amour was pollinated, the other side wasn't! One side has pods and not much new growth but the other side now has new flower buds!
I can't wait to have a bloom that I can pollinate. Problem here is that all the early bloomers are going to be white ones. Love that L'Amour picture!!
Kell, that's funny.. I find myself doing that as well, pollinating and then forgeting which plant did I get the pollen from or worse: mixing all pollen from different plants in one brush. As of your question I believe that the more pods you get on a plant the less it will flower because it shifts its energy into the ripening of the pods.
Regards,
Olga
I may have to go SNIP SNIP.................
That pic of L'Amour bloom is gorgeous!
So who is getting pollen from that one? How is R's bloom coming? Hope it didn't fall off!
I don't trust my memory anymore. I just got finished going around putting little colored dots on all my plumeria and brug seedlings. Each one has a marker in the pot, but if they get knocked over, or a squirrel steals the marker, I will have a backup. I put a matching dot on my empty seed packages.
Kell, that L'amour is beautiful. I will be happy when I havae some blooms so I can do a little hybridizing. the only thing I have had to bloom is CG, and no sign of buds on the other two colors I have. I guess waiting is the name of the game. Donna
I asked my spousal unit if he could remember what some plants were in my garden, because I forgot to tag them. Then he reminded me what his dad said about him, "John is so forgetful that you won't be able to tell when he becomes senile!"
A double L`Amour would be nice. I wish I knew about many pods versus many flowers. Last summer Dark Rosetta was loaded with fruits, but bloomed heavily anyway. Its the "Christmass tree on the photo :) Its one of those that blooms in flushes, so it had its ups and downs, so its really hard to tell, if it would have had more blooms, if I snapped off the pods?
Tonny,
the Dark Rosetta is a beauty. I would love to see a dark double like this one!
Tonny i just love that brug. I had pods on several last year and it didn't seem to hold back the blooms, i think some just bloom more. would be interested in what grows for many years say.
Actually butterfly has two nice fat pods on it now and is loading up with blooms, she is an excellent excellent plant for me.

Oh Tonny......... those flowers are so big and dark. I want it. I need it. I have to have it! Why did the laws change..............too sad!!!
Is this one of Monika's? who are the parents do you know? Is it an R baby? the flowers look bigger than L'Amour.
why can't we just walk into a nursery and buy all these euro brugs? it is just not fair!!! I just hate this feeling of lust.....I am too old to be so lustful!
Tonny, this is a beautiful brug. It must be a favorite in your gardens.
