Bloom is kinda low on plant

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Found this a day or so ago when pulling weeds from the soil. Kind of a strange place for a bloom bud to form. All this time I've been looking at the top of the plants and waiting for the Y's to form. :-)

Wow, that certainly is strange. I've never seen something like that before (!), all brugs I've ever cultivated bloomed on new growth.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

OlgaN, I'm sure it was because this brug was a cutting from the flower region last fall, but it does seem like strange timing for it to happen. The plant is probably 16 inches tall now. Would much rather have the bloom at the top.

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

LOL Shirley! I don't think it could have budded any lower! Maybe I need to start checking in the soil for my blooms and Ys. LOL

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

Ms Brugie that sure is low. good thing it was pointing up instead of down. i couldn't read your name tag.

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

So! That's where I should be looking for my blooms? I don't even have any shoots off the main stem. I wanted to root me another one.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Arlene, this is a cutting from the Butterfly you sent me last year. I love this plant and was so glad that my friend got one from Terry and I was able to keep the extra one I had.

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

it's one of my favorites also. i have two big pods on mine, and am going to air root a 5 foot side shoot if i ever get the time.

city?? lol sticks, AR(Zone 7a)

I would settle for a bud anywhere--top,--bottom, ---midways up? still it was kinna neat to see one at soil level.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

You are starting a new style Brugie, dirt blossoms! LOL!

Milo, IA(Zone 5a)

Maybe you better put a piece of wood under the bloom, like they do with cantalopes or melons to keep it from rotting. That is very odd looking. The brug must be confused. Keep us updated Brugie.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

This plant is ready to be transplanted, but I'll wait until the bud does something so I can get a picture and then she can get her new home.

Brugvalley, Germany(Zone 7b)

Shirley, it is a good brug. Soon you will have more flowers.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Pristine and Cypress Gardens will bloom soon with a few blooms and others are making Y's and will follow shortly. If it would just warm up it would help.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

I have never seen those Brugie so please post pictures when they open. Thanks! Gives me something to look forward to!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

The bloom opened yesterday or the day before. Still looks kinda silly way down at the bottom.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

That is one funny looking plant Brugie!

Grass Lake, MI(Zone 5a)

Ahhh!!!

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

at least you can enjoy the flower!!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

It is funny, the the Y above is setting a lot of buds, so maybe I'll see a normal looking Butterfly when they open. Hanging basket is a good idea CC. LOL!!

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

I see a whole new marketing concept! LOL!!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Maybe someone needs to breed a line of hanging basket brugs. Great idea tiG.

Matthews, MO(Zone 6b)

A few of mine have done that too Shirley, I am with you I think it is because of the flower region cuttings. It does look kind of funny to see them do that though.

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

I'm thinking of doing that with my droopy sangs......

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

Wow, wouldn't a hanging basket full of those be COOL!!!?

Hillsboro, OH(Zone 6a)

I think you just planted it upside down. LOL
Hey, quick blooming, hanging pot specimens would be COOL!!!

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

Really,if you took rooted cuttings all from the flowering region, put them in a LARGE hanging pot..........something to try......

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

But the problem would be later in the summer when the plant has reached four or five feet tall. Maybe it wouldn't gain that kind of size in a smaller pot though. I don't know. Something to try when extra cuttings are just laying around.

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

prune it,just like the canopy........
