For tiG

This is the medium I was using to start the gingers-using as a mulch. I'm gonna try it on the Brugs next--I believe it holds the moisture in and the soil just seemed healthier underneath, did you move your ginger out of the pot to look at the roots yet?

didn't get a darn thing done today except water the brugs, the family decided to go see Finding Nemo and two shows were sold out. We piddled shopping all day waiting for a show. for a 2 year old!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm glad you posted this, so you didn't use this straight?? That's what I thought you were saying. shoot if it holds water in, I need to find some. Where did you find it?

Say tiG, sorry it took so long, had to go to bed early after planting most of those swaps!

I got that stuff either at Home Depot or the local Feed and Seed store, gonna get some more tomorrow, so will let ya know for sure. Did I mention that I had no little gnats or other buggies either? Might be just cause it was ginger, but hey, when you get yours outta the pot, just look at the soil and roots and remember it's been in that pot since March! The ones in pots without it barely came up.

LOL, photo of the day?

Ya think I'm on ta something?

OK, wouldn't ya just know it, after going everywhere else, it was at Walmart $3.96/bag. I kind of wonder also what happens when you fertiize with MG, think some stays in the fiber so that every time you water it gets a dose?

tiG, did ya check your roots yet?

Guess what else I found there, nice-sized, fragrant Oleanders, in white, pink, and light yellow in 1 gal pots for $3.99. Think they'll be selling Brugs next?

roots?
glad to know this is that cheap! I need something to hold the water in my potted brugs!
I love oleanders and did you know that WM sold brugs online??

I must try some of this. I am having a terrible time trying to keep my big ones watered already this year.

I believe you do not get any fungus gnats because they lay their larvae in the top 2 inches of the soil. That is why putting sand on top of your pots works also. They eat organic matter, I think.

oh duh, those roots. vi, you know I don't have the first thing planted from Saturday??? sunday was all day movie out day, monday it rained so I cleaned, yesterday I babysat and today we went to the hospital for several hours. if I don't get out there tomorrow I might just scream.

I'd heard that putting sharp sand on top kept slugs out too but it doesn't! not mine anyway :(

Was it you that did crushed eggshell, tiG? That work?
Do you leave the Oleanders in the ground or pots? So glad to hear they will do ok here, I was just gonna take a chance on em. Bad pic, but good size!

I didnt' get them on all of them, but it seems to work. It just takes a lot of eggs, and I'm talking a LOT, cause you have to make a solid ring, or they will get inbetween them.
I don't have an oleander, we had one when I was a teenager, and I loved it.

BTW--this stuff is found in the 'grass seed' section!

Haven't watered my brugs since, (when was the last rain?) Saturday! 87F now and no signs yet of wilting! I like this stuff.

tiG--did ya ever look at your Ginger roots?

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

yes, and they look great! I am getting some this weekend.
