I recently read a post about a local event and realized the poster lived very close to me. SO I wrote a 'how do you do?' E to him. Then I checked out links to his page and the names and faces on it were familiar. So I wrote again, probably representing myself as some sort of internet stalker. LOL It turns out I have known him and his S/O for 15 years!! I haven't seen them in 12 years. They'll be coming for a visit soon. How cool is that??? Anyway, he found DG through the PDB and I told him how great you all are. He just joined. So you all jump in here and give him a proper welcome!
WELCOME HENRY10!!
ANOTHER Ohio member! Meet my pal Henry10
Welcome Henry10!!!!!!!!
That's so cool -- Hiya, Henry10! Howie and I are just up a ways in Newark, as is Lotusblossom (my mom, also a member at DG). Welcome!
Welcome Henry10! Good to have you here.
Thanks for the intro badseed.
What she didn't say was we live about 2 minutes away from each other!
It will certainly make trading easier!
Thanks for the Welcome!
I've been gardening for about 40 years (counting planting beans in M & D's yard).
We are primarily shade, pond and perennial container gardeners.
W/ a special love also of Cactus and Succulents, bananas, exotic houseplants and 'boo and my first love Water Gardening in containers.
We keep two album sites going.
One at http://groups.msn.com/RNRSSECRETGARDEN/shoebox.msnw
The other at Picturetrails accessible thru my GG Member page.
Fell free to browse around and comment.
See you soon!
Ric
Hi there Henry, and welcome to this great site. I took a short tour through your album and thoroughly enjoyed it. Since you live so close to Chele, your gonna have to keep us informed of her little antics....hehe.
Donna
LOL Donna! Are you trying to set a spy upon me? LOL They are coming over in a couple of hours. I cannot wait to see them! I cannot believe they have been blocks away all this time, gardening and hoarding plants and I didn't even know!!
HeHe Chele....yup, I'm trying anyhow. Hope you have a great visit with them today. Oh yeah, and take some pics while your at it, K.
Donna
Hello there Henry and welcome to DG.
Welcome Henry!! Did you see Miss Badseed's fish flying by when she put in the new pump? **giggle**
Welcome Henry10. If you are a dear friend of Badseeds, you are in EXCELLENT company. Welcome to DG. Glad to have you!
Thanks again for the welcome!
Our hour or so visit w/ Michele turned into a 4 hour plant and gab fest. LOL
I didn't see any fish fly over the falls, but it sure does crank out the GPM's. You could almost raft it!
Her garden and ours are almost mirror images of each other.
-We're 90% shade /w 10% sun, hers is just the opposite.
Most of her cultivars were new to me, but I did usually recognize the species ; )
-Every one of her plants are meticulously labeled, ours well there's just so much else that seems to need done.
-Ours tranquil and serene, hers well a horde of little girls playing in mud (need I say more LOL).
A thoroughly enjoyable time!!
Surrounded by a beautiful space and people.
Ric
PS I did get some shots and w/ her permission will put them up.
OK CHELE! Where are the pictures of the KIDS? Henry....first off...WELCOME!! Secondly...will you PLEASE go by and take some pictures of the GIRLS...Chele won't share them with us anymore....*snif*. Jo (Chele can explain all my silliness....most of it true)
Welcome to DGs, Henry10!! Between DGs and your proximity to Michele, you've got it made!
I get to visit next week ~ I'm so excited!!! I've never been to her home, but she & her family are so sweet!
Glad y'all found each other again & had a good time today :)
Awwww, really? I'm jealous! Have a great time visiting! :)
Again thanks for the Welcomes!
I'll see on the pictures.
Morph, I'm originally from Kettering and my S/O from 'creek.
Small world!
Ric
Welcome. It looks like you fit right in here. I'm glad you had a happy reunion, it sounds like fun.
I told him he would like it here. :) We really did have the best visit! All those years passed and it was just like we never missed a day! They showed up at the door with a black gamecock for my pond and a big hug for me. I bet I looked and smelled pretty darn nice. I had to wade into the pond twice and once was right before they arrived. I did just get changed before they arrived. We did chat and walk the garden for quite a few hours and I sent him home with a few goodies as well. I can't wait til we do it again.
Oh, it is a small world, Ric! We landed here about 17 years ago after DH found a job here. We've decided we really like this area and DH still has his job, thankfully.
There's been so much growth in just the time we've been here! I know that before we moved here, many of the places that are now neighborhoods were all farm land. It's just a slow paced nice area. I love Cleveland, but it much cloudier with the lake there!
Welcome to DG ric. What a great reunion party and you only live 2 mins away from each other!! Oh heck!! We will never see Chele again!! Or maybe you can sort her out so that she has more time to spend in the garden, our garden - yep, you're a blessing in disguise and happy you have joined us.
Welcome, Henry! Hmmm, water gardening in the shade? I have a lot to ask you about!!!!!! So far I only do shady bog stuff that can stand getting somewhat dry during our annual drought.
Thanks to all who have welcomed me both here and the other Forums I've hit.
Michele cuts a wide swath!
I've run into people she knows all over the place.
We water garden in the shade not by choice for sure.
We've had a little luck w/ small WL's in about 4 hours sun.
No luck w/ the bigger ones.
The marginals though seem to do quite well.
They are usually shaded by other plants at pond's edge in Nature so they seem very much at home.
Ric
Welcome to DG, henryr10. I'm a newbie here myself and into water gardening but only with a small above ground water feature on the deck. You'll really enjoy it here. Bill
