I had to search long and hard to figure out it was a begonia! It was too cool!!!!! The price was too high, tho: $15 for this pot! (BTW that is Lotusblossom in the background)

Lupinelover, I see that you have a begonia 'Escargot'. How is it doing? I just bought one a few weeks ago. It is still pretty small. I want to keep it outside for the summer but I am not sure what exposure is best. I live in Reynoldsburg Ohio so my climate is similar to yours (this year that means weird!). What about watering? Do you let it get a little dry or keep it damp? I think it is so beautiful and I am concerned about keeping it alive and well.

this is a neat one! I just started getting into these this summer. They have some great colors. I grow mine in mostly shade and they seem to do well NoH20.

NoH2O: I don't grow this one: I saw it at deMonye's Nursery during a plant raid that a bunch of us made earlier in the spring. Couldn't bear paying that price for it!

I do grow other begonias, tho; I keep mine in mostly shade, the pots are kept on the dry side all summer, and in the winter they are barely watered at all. Most begonias are prone to terrible rot and fungus indoors, and seem to do best if treated as cactus.

Best of luck with yours! (Where did you get it?)

Hi Lupinelover! I got mine at Urban Gardener in the Short North in Columbus (I think it is at 1st and High St or close to it). It was $6.00 for a nice size plant, about the size of the one in the picture or a little smaller. Definitely more reasonable. They have a tiny shop with some unusual plants and a lot of neat garden ornaments, pots, etc. If you go there to get one, tell them they were mentioned in DG!

Very very pretty, thanks for sharing!
