Lilac Jelly

Stormstown, PA(Zone 6a)

I picked some lilacs yesterday because I really wanted tro try this recipe. I had everyone pulling the flowers off the stems and made 2 batches of lilac jelly. My son went nuts over it, and stated that it really was worth all the work put into it. Here's the recipe we used:

It really does take a while to pull off all the flowers from the stem - made me think of plucking grapes. With 2 adults and a 9 and 11 year old, it took us about an hour to prepare enough flowers for 2 batches of jelly. The recipe makes 6 half pint jars per batch.

Hope you enjoy!
