Damaged Cassia Alata

Corpus Christi, TX(Zone 9a)

Today I was trying to stake my 10 foot tall cassia alata that was in full bloom and beautiful. Well, I overdid it pulling on the trunk and snapped the main stalk off at about two foot tall. What can I do to save the tree? Must I chop down the remainder and let it come back from the roots? HELP!!!

Your tree will be okay. It will sprout from the area that it broke off at.

That is good to know because my neighbor's dog just broke mine off at the ground....it was only 3 ft tall but gosh, I still liked it!

They are much stronger than they look, and heartier too. Mine blows over a lot when we have tropical storms, and they always do what datdog said they would do, sprout right back up. I have had them just fall because of the heavy blooms, and they root where they fall.

Thank everyone for the encouragement! I cut one large branch off and treated with rooting hormone; then stuck it in a large pot on the patio. I removed almost all the leaves. It looked fine this morning.
