I have a few seedlings, if anyone would like to trade or sase. I also need information on when the best time to dig these up are.
Silver Maple
Icebud your offer is generous BUT I wouldn't recommend planting one of these near your flower garden. I have a huge one in my front yard. NOTHING grows under it except pacysandra. It sucks all the moisture and nutrients out of the soil. We have ice storms here and it breaks the limbs because they are weak. I've spent over $800 on this tree having it trimmed and cabled so it won't send a limb crashing through my house. Also those seeds come up everywhere and clog the cutters. As a young home owner (years ago) I eagerly planted fast growing "free" trees and would advise anyone NOT TO do it. Spend the money and buy a nice beech or oak, something strong that sends roots down and not out. Just my opinion. http://www.oplin.lib.oh.us/products/tree/fact%20pages/maple_silver/maple_silver.html

icebud, what are you looking for in trade? I don't need any Silver Maple seedlings (I think I have a million of my own, lolol), but if you have some wants, feel free to post them here or put them on your tradelist page. Welcome to Dave's Garden!
