do colocasia/alocasia grow?? The ones we got from the co-op that made it are 3-6" tall. Are all of these just for growing this year and not a part of any beds? Don't mind that, just want to know as I'm putting the finishing touches on one bed and wondered.

Bonnie, I think some of them are root hardy in your zone. I just don't know which ones or if they are even the ones that we had in the last couple of co-ops. Here, they have to be dug and stored. I keep mine growing, tho they don't grow much during the winter. If I find anything about hardiness, I'll let you know.

They sure are slow aren't they tiG? I have some bigger ones too though that I got from B&B's and they are growing slooooowly too. I think it's all the rain. I figure they may take off when it gets hotter. I put my babies in groups in big 7 gallon pots though. I definitely didn't think they'd look like much in the beds this year. I've got 2 Chicagos and 3 Hilos in one pot! lol :)

actually many of the ones I got from the co-op just got moved up to gallon pots today. Some are still tiny, but I've been feeding them every week. I'm beginning to believe they might make some good plants this summer. I did notice that as I moved them, the soil was just saturated. This is a better draining mix, so I'm thinking they'll do fine. Maybe the nightly 3" has stopped:)
