This is first time in nearly a week I've sat in front of the computer. So much to do, so many places to go. The guys say they have to make appointments just to see me or get me to do something for them.
Mary, that doesn't look like our White Tops(there are 2 that are called that here). More like a thistle we have. Ours are in the aster/heath families. Frequent mowing before bloom will help. Spraying while the plant is small will also help. Most sprays don't work well on mature plants.
I took Jack to the eye specialist at the VA clinic in Columbia yesterday for a pre-op checkup and decison making session regarding his cataracts. He will have the pre-op work done on the 2nd of June, the catarct removal surgery on the 3rd, and go back on the 4th for a post op checkup. I ask if they would keep him overnight the day of the surgery but was told no. The doctor thinks there is at least a 70% chance he can really improve Jack's vision in the left eye. The right eye isn't that bad yet. Just like mine!
The days are warm and the nights are down right chilly here. I need sweat pants and long sleeves in the early morning, then begin to shed and change into shorts and sleeveless tops by late morning or early afternoon. Evenings see me reversing and going back to warmer clothing. We've had some rains so it makes it feel cooler. Oh how we needed that moisture.
I've been working on a couple outside planting projects this past couple weeks. One at work and one at the church. I'll plant mostly perennials in the raised beds at church. There was a LOT of weeding to do first tho. I'll spray the remaining weeds/grasses in a few days, then get some good compost, etc. to refill the beds before planting any more. I've been told of a good source of fairly fresh stable cleanings close the the church that I think will be good for those beds. I'll have to cut it with leaves that have been shredded or get the church to buy a LOT of good potting soil to mix with it. When I finish weeds should not be a problem as we'll also mulch it well with wood chips. I'm thinking in the line of maybe 20 more hours of work to complete this project. The one at work isn't so big as my boss has already done the amending and tilling of the soil as well as the spraying. Maybe 10-15 hours will finish it. They are both about 15 miles from home but in opposite directions. I'm at the church more than I am at work tho and will work on that one a bit more as I'm in town often. Both will require some special trips tho.
I had an echo of my supposedly enlarged heart on Tuesday. The tech who did it knows KathyJo well. I told him he saw more of me than she probably ever will. LOL. Unless of course she does on one me. We talked a lot about what he was finding and I really don't think there is any enlargement. All the valves were working fine and the pressures didn't seem out of line either. I feel good about it but will see the cardiologist 6/16 anyway. That will make my other 2 doctors happy.
I need to go back to bed and see if I can get more sleep. GOD bless and keep each and all of you.
