Thankyou both. Working out there is my therapy and if it doesn't stop raining here the weeds are going to take over along with insanity! Ha!

Doris, it's beautiful and I agree with the rain thing!

WOW!!!!!!!! Just Beautiful!!!!!!!!

Your shade garden is just gorgeous. I have a small shade garden, and it took me a couple of years to determine which plants would do well. But now, it's one of my favorite areas in the spring.

And I am nearly bonkers myself with this continual rain. Everything here is really lush - - - but I worry that somethings will start to rot. And the slugs are almost scary this year. Nat

Thanks Nat. I have never had slugs UNTIL this year! It is raining again today!

I had a few slugs last year, but this year it's ridiculous!! I'm putting coarse sand on top of all my pots and things they love, hoping that will help.

I visited Calalily's greenhouse this weekend and mentioned that I thought that my slugs were getting fat off of my slug bait. And she said that she had gone through two large bags of slug bait and couldn't tell that she had any reduction in her slug population.

So, I think that I am going to have to try TiG's approach and put out egg shells or sand around certain plants to see if I keep them off. But I haven't put out beer traps yet this year - - maybe I should try that in addition to the bait and sand methods. I have had good success in the past with the beer traps - - but it thoroughly grosses me out to have to empty the traps. YUCK!

They really should sell disposable beer traps....oh, they do! they are called paper bowls! They work fine and you toss em slugs and all.

Zany - - I use the covered traps once I discovered that my dogs would drink the beer with dead slugs in it. Yuck, Yuck, Yuck!

EEEWWWYY!! Yuck! LOL Dogs are wonderful critters but they sure can be disgusting!

Nat, Maybe you should rename your dogs Slugger and Slugo. :)

Beautiful garden there, Doris. It must be nice to have a small hillside like is shown here. All I have here is flat ground and if I want a hill I have to buy the soil for it
:( At our last house we had a huge hill but no water for a garden. Can't win.
