Wonderful picture, my EPs are very small, have to wait a long time for first blooming...

I have buds on mine and it is only about 15 inches tall. I lost the one I had last year and Renee brought one when she came to the Roundup. I'm tickled "Pink".

Terry, do you have any problems taking the big brugs outside when it is time? I noticed that I lost tip growth and should have cut them back myself when I took them out, but gosh, I hated to do that. :-)

Shirley, I didn't have any problems last year when I put them out. Many were hitting the GH roof before I could get them out. About three weeks before I put them out I run a big fan in there in the daytime. It helps cool the GH and also makes them strong. Also start lowering the heat at night so they will be used to cool nightime temps.
Should the tips be cut off before bringing them outside?

Snowhermit, beautiful brug. I debated when I ordered from Logees a couple of months ago, between EP and P Beauty, decided on PB, maybe that was a mistake. Your EP is gorgeous. My PB is still quite small and still in the GH. It was 32 degrees last night and the night before. Snowed very low in the nearby mountains, down to about 2000 feet. I have so many plants that need to be planted outside but am afraid of the cold. Weatherman promises better weather. Yesterday the high was 46 degrees with a strong north wind blowing, the 17the of May!!!! Donna

Terry, there is probably a difference in brugs grown in a greenhouse and in the house. Monika or Ludger was saying some time back, something about cutting back the tip growth before taking them outside. I don't remember it all, obviously. LOL!!

That is because you are too much like me Brugie.........LOL! I just love that tree, so light and airy. I sure hope I get some EP blooms this summer!

Shirley,if a brug is in a dark overwintering room, you have to cut back the bright and soft tip growth. Sun will burn them and wind will dry them out.
A brug which was overwintered in a bright greenhouse, you only have to toughen up. You must open the windows at nights and stop the heating. The GH will have about the same climate like outside and after some weeks the brug will be ready for bringing ( be taken? ) outside.

I knew there was something about cutting back the tips. Hey, I got it half right!! LOL!! I took one of my plants outside without hardening it off....how do you do that when you grow them in the house.....and the tips went soft. Looking good now though.

EP is one of the best wildforms I ever had. It less sensitive than Kaskade and well suited for hybridizing.
Terry, I hope you have a good partner for pollination.

I get them outside when we are supposed for some rainy days without sun. After some days the leafes will become harder.

I use both ways: cut and no cut.I decide at each brug I get outside.
