Well this should be very intesrting. I thought you could not mix the 2 kinds. They are not self fertile are they? Did you pollinate them?

Coal Center, PA(Zone 6a)

Yes, Kell.
Snowbank x Butterfly.
It IS interesting! lol

Grass Lake, MI(Zone 5a)

This will be something to watch and see what develops. Way to go Alice!

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

Congratulations Alice. Keep my fingers crossed that you may have more luck as Mme Blin and I. All seedlings from a variegated Tiara clone died. They were just white and had no chlorophyll at all.

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Wishing you much luck Alice. It will be very interesting to see what developes from them.

To be honest, even if just one germinates and it is a white seedling...well it will tell us that Snowbank is not a complete conversion. Either that, or that Butterfly occassionally has a few pollen grains that are not the norm. This could be why a few hybrids are seemingly sterile. Perhaps they are simply natural tetraploids or incomplete conversions.
Or perhaps when one converts a brug to tetraploid that can make it self fertile in some instances. Is there any chance that Snowbank self pollinated?

Congrats Alice :o)))

Brugvalley, Germany(Zone 7b)

Eric, very good ideas and thoughts. !! One day I will have a Snowbank..lol.

Coal Center, PA(Zone 6a)

Eric,
One pod has developed on its own since my hand pollenated ones.
Either open or self ..??? But I was not involved.

Maya has producedonly white or green seedlings to date.
The white die at the second leaf. I have been growing the green ones.
Several more Maya pods to go. Hopefully something better comes.
Even just one. lol

Thanks, everyone.
