Still trying to get my first Bloom.

Kingston, OK(Zone 7a)

Well I babyed them thru the winter and a bad outbreak of spider mites. Got fifteen out and planted in 5 gal pots and some direct in the ground.
Then came the big storm and hail.
Going to have to wait until they get more leaves now. But I will prevail and share the first photo when it comes.

Thanks for the seed you just sent Kell.

TA, might not be a bad idea to sink those pots half way into the ground to keep them upright during the hot summer winds. I've had some stakes made that look like long skinny candy canes and I hook the curved part over the top of the pot while the long straight part goes into the ground to hold the pots fairly still in winds. I usually put three stakes to a pot. So far they have worked well for me. I used them last year for the first time. Keep watching for those mites. They can be a real pain in the behind.

TA, so sorry you got hail, we did too. It was so sad to watch those leaves turning into shreds!
Brugie, I did sink some of my pots and they are the ones that didn't turn over in the wind, so it works!

Glad you got them Ted!

I have mites again also. All over. I do not know how they got so bad without me seeing them. I had gotten rid of them and they are back!!!

Ya my elephant ears I got from the Co Op were weak because of the spider mites. Planted all of them and then came the hail. All I have are stems now. Being there is no bulb yet they probably bit the dust. Supposed to get another storm tonight right over us. My El Amore seedlings went also.
Calalily more are headed your way. Hope you dont see any of them.

Three of my brugs are outside, but under the roof of passageway to garage. The others are still in the greenhouse. I am expecting frost tonight. It is 3:30 pm right now, the wind has died down and temp. has risen to 50 from 48 at 2:00pm. Now that's cold for May 16. I will have to go out and cover my tomato plants and a few other tender things. i have lots of plants waiting to go into the ground but waiting for warmer weather. I came inside as it was so cold when the wind was blowing, but will go back outside now that the wind has stopped, at least temporairly. I want some warm weather !!!Donna
