I am a newbie from New Orleans, Louisiana

Hello everyone!

My name is Laura and I am from a little town right outside of New Orleans, Louisiana. I am a mother of two daughters who are getting sick of all the plants in there yard. "oh well until they have their own place they'll just have to live with it" ;)

I just found Dave’s Garden today. What a great web-site!

I am a fairly new gardener and I look everywhere for ideas, plants, and great information on plants& trees. I’ve been filling my front and back yard with plants for about 2 ½ years now. I do mean filling too, it is getting way over the limit here. Well since I have a serious back injury, my fiance does the digging and lifting while I do the watering, feeding, insect treating and bossing. Ha ha kiddin on that last part.. . Really, my fiance just ask me where ya want it and next thing I know it’s planted. What a great guy!

We are looking into growing our own plants from seeds and cuttings. I will either sell, trade, or give away most I am sure. We’ve had success with StarGazer Lilies bulbs and now I just took a try at growing seeds this last Sunday on Mother’s Day. I am trying to grow Aztec Jasmine with this little dome kit I bought. Wish me luck, I sure hope something happens.

Hi, Laura - welcome! We've been to NO once (well, three times, if you count arriving and departing from the airport!), when we visited Justmelisa and her family in Thibodaux last Thanksgiving. We're hoping to come and visit again, so maybe all of us can meet up if we make it back down there.

Gardenwife, I just read your page and we both have the getting rid of the grass in common. We have almost got all of our grass covered. I'd say by next year we'll just be using our weed eater. Then our neighbors that have been laughing and turning up their noses will be whistling a new tune when we are sitting on our swing sipping lemon aid and they are cutting their grass twice a week. lol

Lisa sure seems like a great lady. If you do get back down here please make sure you let me know. I'd love to meet you too.
