I'm spreading the Brug addiction around the neighborhood :)
I cleaned out the greenhouse this weekend and decided to cut back on the number of large (4' + brugs) I have and set aside about a dozen of them to get rid of. My neighbor came over to see the yard/plants, he does this quite frequently so I offered him one. He had seen my rows of them last summer and couldn't wait to grab one.
Well, a little while later he came back over with his mother in law wanting one for her.
Then a little while later he came back over with the neighbor on the other side of him wanting one for her...
A little while later.... LOL, you get the picture.
I guess this is going to be "Brug Street" this summer :) Then again by the time my neighbor is finished, it just might be "Brug Neighborhood" LOL.
Brug Street
WTG Jody....the more Brugs lovers the better.
Doesn't it make you feel good, just to have something to give?
Jody, you are so sweet to share you big brugs with neighbors. I've tried, but I only have one nextdoor neighbor (we live in the country) and she doesn't want anything that requires care. My Maytag man and our niece do like them though as does a good friend who works for our local greenhouse, so I'm able to pass a few big ones on once in a while. I especially like it when someone comes and digs one of them that has grown to China.
way to go Jody!! our mailman finally stopped and just 'started talking' !! you could tell in a heartbeat he was dying to get a brug. Of course I obliged:)
Jody, what a wonderful street it will be too. I love sharing my plants with my neighbours, that way, I can still enjoy them from afar....half the plants in my neighbourhood originated from my yard.
Alright Jody! You're a Brugbassador, spreading Brugs to the world! Keep up the good work! :-)
Wish my neighbors would get into them...they don't want anything they have to bring in for the winter.......
Here they are not so desired! They are sold in most nurseries and grown all over. I have tried giving mine away and no takers!!!
Good for you Jody. The more people that want them, the faster new ones will be offered for sale and hybridized!
Thanks everyone!
None of the nurseries around here carry them. My neighbor loves flowers, he is always coming over here to see my yard and whats in bloom (and what he can have). He brings his company over here to see my yard, LOL. A few years ago there were hardly any flowers or gardens on my street, now lots of people are starting to plant more :) It's great, I love it!
We also have a fairly large "MAG" (Mid Atlantic Garden) swap here in MD every spring and fall. Lots of folks show up for it from MD, DE, PA, NJ, VA and DC. I was going to bring the rest of the brugs there, lots of people wanted them, but I ended up helping Shriley pack hellebores instead. I'll bring them to the fall swap though.
That's great Jody...."Brug-World" here we come..LOL
That's great to hear! Even nicer to know you live around folks who garden and love plants. All of my neighbors, except one have lawn service. You NEVER see anyone outside around here. I actually had one of the neighbors lawn service crews wanting to know if I wanted that 'dying' tree taken out. Of course, that dying tree is my brug coming back to life -LOL- The one I'm waiting as I've never seen it bloom.
My 'dying' tree------ of course it looked more dead about two weeks ago.
Jody:
Please post some photographs of your yard. I'd love to see it. Tis the season to share! :-)
