Want Brown Iris

Noblesville, IN(Zone 5a)

I am looking for a brown iris. Does anyone have one to trade? Let me know what you like in trade for some or postage maybe.

Honibee, do you actually mean brown or that dark burgundish color that we say looks like rootbeer? I have that and would be glad to share and the irises are just beginning to get started here. So it would be later in the summer before I would dig them up.

Lenjo, do you by any chance have enough to include me? I will find something you want if you do. Do you know the name of that one?

Honi, I have seen some in Schreiner's that appeared to be brown, and some that were sort of rust. Try their website for purposes of identifying and describing accurately. Be careful, though, you will be awfully tempted. I have so sit on my hands when I look at their catalog.

Yes, Aimee, I would be glad to share but will wait before I take them. Schreiner's is about one half an hour from me and they have acres and acres of irises and yes I have seen a brown one out there. Their display gardens are to die for and smell oh my you think you are swimming in a perfume bottle. BTW the iris I have is just an older variety with out a name to my knowledge.

HoniBee, I will be watching the Iris beds, and hoping some of the Browns bloom this year; will label them for you. Might be more of a Bronze, but we'll see! John

Here is a photo of my unnamed Bronze color one, close to brown. What do you think?

Here is 'Chief Hematite, more of a burgundy-brown.

I have burgundy, rust colored iris that I would be willing to trade for. I'm not too picky about what I would like as long as it is perennial and not invasive.
