From City to Country

My DH has always lived in the farming community however I'm from the city and know nothing! (He had to tell me we would have to breed a cow before we could get milk from her! I also thought that all chicken eggs produced chicks!) This is a fascinating place to read about everything you do. Very enjoyable! Also very educational. DH wants to get goats but I'm afraid they'll eat all my flowers and garden plants, will the electric fence really keep them away from my favorite berries? Also, does anyone know if walnut trees will kill fruit trees? I just bought way too many different things to plant that I know nothing about and one was about 20 fruit trees that are supposed to go where the huge walnut tree was, so my DH cut it down!! Does that sound outragous to anyone else? He's going to cut it into lumber. So I guess it's not a total waste. I keep thinking how long it took to grow and then wish I'd thought before ordering the fruit trees. We just bought a place last year and DH is going crazy trying to get it set up how he wants it. I keep throwing monkey wrenches in his plans by trying to help and getting ahead of him. I got the dogs he said he would need (rat terrier's) but i guess i was supposed to wait til he had the fence up. They are terrorizing the neighbors cats! He just stopped me in time from getting some cheap goats that he said were so cheap because nobody wanted them. (I thought it was a great deal!) Anyway I've decided not to jump ahead without checking his timeline. I guess just because he says he wants it doesn't mean right now. Hope everyone's weather dries up soon. Any and all tips appreciated!!
