I e-mailed the seller on this one. He said he hasn't seen it bloom. I'm almost positive it's not a double. He got a bulk order of cuttings from a grower in Florida. I think it's just an un-named pink. He really otta change the picture...

Westbrook, ME(Zone 5a)

In fact ... after searching around I found the pic is Anne Krschner's 'Pink Perfection'. From the list he gave me I think he's brugs came from Nestor White.... the same fella that was selling Mrs.Chambers before.

Medford, NJ(Zone 6b)

Thanks Poppy. I emailed him as well, didn't get a reply back. How 'shady' is this! Misleading the general public. This type of thing makes me CRAZY. You know that somone isn't going to spend that much on a un-named pink brug. PLUS, I'm sure he used this picture without permission.

There was another from the same seller (2321529983) that closed yesterday at $55.00. The photo is definitely a double as you can see the tendrils of the inner skirt in front of the outer skirt on the bigger flower in the front. That's amazing he hasn't seen it bloom but posts a photo of it.

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

What color is it? Photo suite or Adobe? It is not natural for sure.

I agree on the E-Bay advert :( That is not a fair way to sell Brugs. I don`t know, if I agree that 'Pink Perfection' has unnatural color, since I don`t grow it :)

I'll be able to tell you shortly Tonny! I guess that the dull weather in the background makes the pink look so nice too!

I'm sure Monika has seen them in person and I think she ins Schwarze treffen ! : )

The seller said in his posting that it was a mistake that this pic was used..they obviously grabbed the pic from the internet. he also said the plant for sale wasn't a double flowered form. So go figure.

Medford, NJ(Zone 6b)

Kyle- that wasn't on his ebay add this a.m. he recently changed it. I'm glad that he/she did. You know the folks that are bidding are thinking they are going to get the plant in the picture.

what about item 2321529983, that sold for 55.00 good ole American dollars for what a mistake? It's buyer beware in eBay land but datdog I agree this sort of thing drives me crazy !!
John
Oh guess it was not a mistake, LOL.. It is not a mistake I am in the habit of making nor do I wish for it to happen again. This is a lovely plant in its own right BUT MAY NOT BE THE ONE IN THE PICTURE

The part about the picture was added this morning at 11:45 Pacific time after the bidding had already reached $31.00. The seller states that the plant "may not be the one in the picture". That infers that it could be like the one in the picture because it doesn't say it's not. Interestingly, the current high bidder (at $33.00) is the same person who won at $55.00 yesterday. I wonder if he/she saw the addition about the picture. I bet they didn't.

I do believe I'd be more then a little upset if I spent $55.00 and the thing wasn't what it was supposed to be.

Monika has definitely hit the bull's eye.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

He did that because I emailed him and was quite pointed in my questions!!! He emailed me back and was quite conciliatory..........
Do you know I have been ripped off the last 7 times out of 7 that I have bid on things from eBay with the average rip off of about $125. Do you think I learn...........NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! After a few months I bid again. Ebay is a giant rip off as far as I am concerned!

Kell,
I have never had luck with EBay either but then there are some that do great....guess we just have that look about us. LOL

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

YES.........SUCKER written right across my forehead!!! I even ask direct and all encompassing questions before I bid.........it matters not! I just bought a 1890 brass Hendryx birdcage (I collect these) and asked specific questions before I would even bid on it............. I was lied to!!!

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

I won't buy off ebay....Sucker born every minute! Sorry, Kell, but it's only money.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

LOL..........but it is MY money Glory!!!

Kell--so far I've been lucky with ebay. I have a couple a vendors that I have been really nice to me--- even with me not bidding anymore.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

I wrote the poor guy bidding and he's pretty upset. He just wanted a gift for his wife.

Heaven ; ), Denmark(Zone 7b)

tiG, some ought to send him a cutting of a butterfly or L`Amour and another maybe pollen from one of the decent pink EU cultivars, so he could make a cross specially for his wife. Most woman can not resist, when the man come home with a beautiful present and ad " ... and I made it myself specially for you"

tiG,
That's sad...I'm glad you let him know.

Surely the bidder does not need to follow through on this now that the seller states it is not as advertised?

I've had good luck with eBay, but have been careful in checking feedback before bidding, and in asking questions.

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

I have never had any problems on Ebay either..all things were as pictured..but I have an expert here that knows how to deal on Ebay..so it keeps me safe...UP TO NOW!!!! LOL
Never know about some of the sellers.........

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

I've always had good luck with ebay too. I did tell the guy I could send him something named and that he should not pay for either of the auctions. there is a way out, he just has to follow through.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

I guess it depends what you buy on eBay. I almost exclusively buy things between 75 and 125 years old. I am very particular and only want things that have no damage and are in the best condition. I am very specific in my questions before and I always add the catch all phrase ANY DAMAGE AT ALL after I list my specific questions. I find many use the yardstick that it is great "for its age", well that is not good enough for me. I want it to be great period!

I also find the best dealers for me are those with between 100 and 500 feedbacks with no negatives. They work hard not to get a negative. Every time I buy from someone with over 2000 and with some negatives, they do not care if you give them a negative. So many buyers do not give negatives for then they get a negative in retaliation. So I find the feedback system has a huge flaw. If the feedback could be given independent of each other's, it would be much more truthful and reliable.

Hi Guys...This photo isn't a fake..just the guy who posted it at ebay!

You can buy this hybrid from here: http://kirchner-abel.de/shop/. There's lots of some of the newest beautiful colored double hybrids available and some other brugs that are are to die for too!

You'll see the hybrid 'Full Rosea Magic' there too! There were some members last year who called this a fake too but I guess it wasn't so as it's now widely available and can be bought from several other nurseries and websites!

BTW, Anne Kirchner-Abel who sells all these new Brugs, ships to the US but it's expensive as you'll need to buy a phytosanitary cert. and a quarantine permit!

Hopeing the weather stays nice,

Bruno

Just went back to check what the close price was on this. Ready? $48.75 !!! How sad is that?

"down the Shore", NJ(Zone 7a)

Incredibly sad...

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

And the buyer did not know it was not for the brug pictured!

Heaven ; ), Denmark(Zone 7b)

Bruno, I can`t wait to do business with AKA *lol* I just ordered these:

x flava Sunny
Angels dream
La Paloma Blanca
Ocre
Pink Perfection
Rosalla
Goldenes Kornet
Roter Kornet
Rothkirch
Rosie
Exotica Pink
Salmon Perfection
Charleston
Roter Vulcan

We compiled the order from a Tonnys -, Lenes wish-lists and a needed for hybridizing-list. It was fun to watch how many from Lenes wish-list that was also on mine *lol*

Co.Wicklow, Ireland(Zone 8b)

Cool...you haven't ordered anything I ordered! But you did order way more than me :o( LOLOL

Heaven ; ), Denmark(Zone 7b)

*lolol* Never mind the numbers *lol* Lene was not easy to stop. She also wanted half of all the double whites, so I had to negotiate to reduce their number to La Paloma Blanca, Angels Dream and Charleston. She was crazy with Pink - and Salmon Perfection, but didn`t even notice Rothkirch and Exotica Pink :( I wonder what crosses she is planning :)
