We lost a beloved member of our family last night. "Penny", our 9 yr. old Fawn colored Boxer, suddenly collapsed as she went for her evening walk with my DH. We tried to revive her at home, in the car, and the Dr.s did everything for her at the All-Night Emergency Animal Hospital. She had a massive heart attack and went very quickly. She did not suffer.
I can't begin to tell you the loss we have experienced in our lives! Everywhere we go in the house reminds us of her. Her toys that she played with affectionately, her bowls that she ate & drank from, her bed that she slept in, are all constant reminders of the terrible void in our lives. My DH has stored all her precious things in the basement...we can't bear to part with them.
My DH & I have decided to have a private ceremony for her when our younger son returns home from college, in two weeks. We don't know if our older son can get home (he is living & working in California). We have decided to have her cremated and spread her ashes amongst the pine trees in our back yard, where she use to love to run & play for hours. She will return to her favorite spot in the garden, we will always keep her close to us and to our hearts.
She was the BEST GARDENING BUDDY anyone could ever have and we will miss her dearly!
