Does anyone have a rooted B. sanguinea that they can spare. I had 12 cuttings rooting, but everyone of them have rotted. I don't have much left to trade, but might be able to come up with something interesting. I really want one of these bad.
Patricia
Does anyone have?
Hi Patricia- I have a seedling I can send you. No trade is neccessary.
Kristi
I am planning on trying to root some of mine again Patricia. I had great luck last spring and none in the late summer and fall. I figure now is the time to try! If I succeed, of course I will share with you!
And I have seed pods!!! LOL
That you both for your kind offers. I would love to have your seedling Kristi. And Kell if her seedlings doesn't make it, I will check with you this summer and see if you have had any luck. I sure wish I hadn't had to take mine out.
Patricia
Kell, please can you send a picture from pods? Or a link? I really would like to compare the pods.
You know, I have some here, too.
kell, I know asking for a seedling is probably a bit much but could I maybe have a couple of seeds of this one when you have some? LMK :)
Gee Ludger.........I lied!! LOL!!
I have seed pods on an arborea that was pollinated with my orange sang. I have never pollinated my orange sang because I must severely prune it every couple of months so a seedpod would never have time to mature. However, I do have a new sang now that is different, that is in a pot so it just occurred to me I could pollinate that one with my orange sang. A duh moment! And then I may get something different and interesting.
My pink vulcanicola still has its buds so I will fertilize that with my orange sang if my luck holds out.
And if I succeed, I will post it all..........LOL!!!
Flowox, I am a long way from seeds. I also went against Bruno's advice and I repotted my arborea because it was so rootbound and I lost my oldest seedpod. However, if I get a lot of seeds I will be looking to give them away though I know lots of people are very interested in these particular seeds.
I am trying to root my orange sang right now, and perhaps if I am successful enough I can share with you. Sangs are not easy to grow where you are though, so I doubt you would be successful.
Could I interest you in CG mixed seeds? They would grow great where you are and they actually exist right now! I have learned the hard way never to count on seeds before you have the ripened pod in your hand and opened and then seen some growing from it.........LOL!
WOW! So, which one is this? I too, would love a start of that one! I have a Vulcanicola, might try crossing with some of those.
Kell, if you have a cutting I would love to try as I have been very lucky growing things that here that shouldn't do well. I bring all the brugs in the house when it gets cool anyway, have a big glass patio door that I put some by and I have growing lights set up in the basement too. LMK and thanks again :)
I just got cutting of Vulcanicola, from Larry(Daturapod) last fall, but it is a beautiful growing plant, so I hope to see it bloom this summer. Will tell you color then.
I'm sooo jealous Hibiscus. I want one too :)
I will try Flowox for you.........and I guess I better try to root up some of my vulcanicolas also.
Gloria, I am anxious to see your color. They sure are pretty!
