Avid?

wondering whats in avid---I have lots of farmer friends who have lots of bulk chemicals-----can get small amounts if I ask real nice n maybe do a little babysitting? does it have a big fancy name? Does it kill *gulp* my lady bugs and bees too? :S feel kinna bad about that but the aphids are outragious already?

Abamectin is the active ingredient. And yes... I read it's toxic to bees... not sure about the ladies. I think I'd try to battle aphids with something else first.

Try imidicloprid on your aphids. Avid is more for mites, thrips and whitefly, Imidicloprid(Merit, Marrathon) is for aphids and is systemic(lasts from 30-90 days). It won't affect your lady bugs, bees or other beneficials nor will it bother the humming birds that drink the nectar.
The farmers might have Imidicloprid, it's approved for use on a lot of stuff.

I always use palmolive soap in my sprayer for aphids and it really works! I seem to get thick aphids every spring on my new growth on my roses, japanese maples and my oleanders.
If it is just a few aphids I use a strong stream of water and my fingers. SQUISH SQUISH

thanks yall-----I have never seen so many aphids before----n --ugghhh the grasshoppers are yet to come. You know, I put spiders outside if I find them in the house,---but Im downright a serial killer when it comes to my flowers---its been a long long winter.....

The spiders would eat the aphids if you left them in the gh. I have a picture of a spider eating the worms that got on my brugs last year.

Snake dreams and now spider dreams. I can't stand either of them. I do have spiders in the greenhouse though and maybe snakes, just don't want to know about them.
