Gentiana seeds

dobie, ON(Zone 3a)

Hi Everyone,

I was watching tv the other day and they were showing a garden makeover in Scotland.
One of the plants was Gentiana szechuanica var georgii in both the native white and blue.
Does anyone have some of these seeds for trade.
I have about 90 different types of seeds so should find something of interest for you if you have some.
Please let me know.
Thanks bunches

here's a quote for you from Scotlands Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh

"The autumn flowering gentians are a group of plants that are both demanding and rewarding to grow. However, anyone who has seen Gentiana szechuanica var georgii flowering through the early autumn snow on a high scree in the Sino-Himalaya will welcome the challenge of cultivating a plant of immense intrinsic beauty."

it sounds very difficult to look after unless you have a scree and near natural conditions. Why not try some of the other easier varieties?

Hi Mark,

I have never had any varieties of them. Do you have some. They are such a pretty plant I would very willingly try any of them.

try G verna or one one the autumn Gentians BUT they are all fussy. If they dont like where you put them they die. Some need lots of grit, some need limestone in the soil

Thanks Mark, have a great day!
