Wow, 2 whole days with no posts on Farm Life forum. Did the rapture happen & I missed it? I just don't know that all computer communications in this country have ended? I'm getting paranoid here. LOL.
Our first planted bed of potatoes are all showing beatiful dark green curly leaves just above ground level. I love that sight and walk by several times a day to look at them and give thanks for a bountiful harvest. We just got the last one planted Sunday afternoon so of course they won't be up for several days. However they did have respectable but not long leggy sprouts on them and some roots around the sprouts so they won't be too long coming up. Shad and I moved 2 more HUGE(1'+ across the top and roots several inches long)asparagus hills into the raised bed yesterday morning. We couldn't get deep enough to get as much root as I would have liked because they were so deep in the ground already. The holes we had to dig are so big it will take a least a yardcart of 'stuff' to refill each of them. Most had lots of thumb sized sprouts on them so I'm looking forward to harvesting lightly next year then normally the next year.
We really worked over the old herb bed yesterday morning so it is idea for some plants. I put elephant ears in the ends of it and may plant some canna in it too.
Mary, the rhubarb you send me is the best looking one we have. Thank you so much for it and the raspberries. I'll get them into their permanent home in a few days. Right now they are in pots and setting on the proposed bed. I want the panels they will lean against up before I plant them.
GOD bless and keep each and all of you. Have a great week.
