That is a lovely fritillaria - wonder if I could get that species to grow here, better check it out!

Some varieties of F. thunbergii are found in Siberia! At worst, you could grow it in a pot, and overwinter it in the garage or some other relatively frost-free place. The one thing to watch out for, according to "The Gardener's Guide to Growing Fritillaries" (1997), is that the bulbs must be planted deeply, about 10", to flower - else they do nothing but produce numerous bulblets.
