air plant moss...

Victoria, TX(Zone 9b)

Or something like that.. It's a sort of bromeliad, I think. It seems to grow well under humid conditions, but doesn't need planted,, I've seen pictures of it growing in places like Florida and other tropical places, as well as in conservatory greenhouses with orchids.

Does anyone have some of this laying around getting in the way that they could send for postage or seeds? I can look around here in some stores for a special kind of seed if you'd like, or will gladly send a bubble-envelope with postage. I had some, but kept forgetting to keep it misted and wet, and it croaked in the dry air. I'm thinking of using it near a fountain I have set up and/or on my patio for a living decoration.

Thanks,
-Jennifer

[edit] I found it in the database... :)

*bump*

anybody, please? Has anyone ever seen it in an online or mail-order store? I have looked, but so far, no luck....
somebody from Florida or closeby has to know where this stuff is hanging from a tree, causing it harm.. Let me set the tree free! :)

TIA,

Is this what you want? If so, it is in almost every shrub in northern Florida, near the Tampa area. The spanish moss is not so easily found, but it's there, too.

Jesh, they sell for big bucks up here.I have one but too cheap to pay all the money for more....

And they just hang around in trees down there?

Kay - I'm looking for the one I linked to in the database ... the long thin stuff that looks like living, green, curly string.. There's another post in this forum titled "Spanish Moss" - that's the stuff I'm hunting for...

Thanks,

I'm sure if you write gingerlily or weeds (can't remember who all posted) they would be happy to send you some.
