The weird seedling is still growing but slower than the rest of the seedlings. This is an updated picture taken today.
Weird seedling update
This is a picture I posted in Feb.http://davesgarden.com/t/372681/
strange, looks like siamese twins
Please,please
Snow, keep us updated! Most time one will pass(here) I really would like to see the growing on.
That looks like two plants that fused together, maybe two seeds where stuck to each other. It would be cool if it had different flowers.
That is neat Snow. I wonder how that happened.
This was from one seed and I think Barb also got a Siamese Twin from another cross of mine. I'm curious how hers is doing. Oh Baaarb, how is your weird seedling doing?
That is cool Terry. Looks healthy. Will be neat to see what becomes of it.
Those are my thoughts as well John. I don't know if it will ever get to flowering size but I'm going to try to keep it growing and see what each side gives for flowers.
snowhermit, Here is one of my weird seedlings,( Please ignore chewed lower leaves dang snails!). The other one I have is more like yours with a very weak side and one that is stronger. The one in the pic is a suaveolens x versicolor orangey . Both of the seedlings I have like this were not damaged at an early stage but literally came out of the seed with two growing tips? It will be fun to see what they do!
John
That's cool John! Both sides on yours look strong and you have a good chance of seeing flowers this year. I'm real curious if the flowers will be the same or different on these.
Maybe that poor baby on the left just needs more light. LOL!! I have one in the greenhouse that did this too. Don't remember which seed it came from. Mine split quite wide though and doesn't make as much of a V. Looks more like it is branching out to bloom and it is only about 4 inches tall. It is definitely not growing as fast as the other seedlings.
Wow! I love these weirdlings *lol* I wonder if their explanation could be, that there was two embryos (seedling that has not come out of the seed yet) in one seed coat. I know from willows that for ex. two branches would graft on eachother naturally, when they grow extremely close and the wind make them rub against each other. Perhaps it is the same thing we see here, but with developing Brugmansia embryos?
