I gave a friend a rooted cutting of x knightii. She is pretty good with plants.
I haven't seen the plant, but she says the older leaves are curling, and going a bit yellow. There is no brown marks, no pest residue or pests, and she fertilizes it with the same product I do. There is no "wrinkles" like with some aphids.
This is a young plant, about a foot tall, and it effects only the old, not the new leaves. I don't think it is old enough to be losing any leaves yet.
Any ideas? I know the description is vague, but that's all I can get from her- Thanks, Dennis
Need help for a friend with leaves curling.
Has she let them get too dry? Is she sure there aren't spider mites on them? Could also be a nutrient problem.
Hi Cala. She figured it was a K deficiency, but I figured it wouldn't be that because she sticks to a good fert schedule. My first thought was it must be mites. But she says there are none. And I sprayed it a couple times this winter with Avid, none of mine have mites currently.
I'll have to make the trip to her house, curling leaves could be anything!
Dennis, one of the Charlston ( also a double with some aureagenes)is doing the same here.Sometimes it happen even with good care.
I'm thinking it might just be the winter climate in the greenhouse is not perfect. That would explain yours too. Thanks, I'll tell her to give it some time.
That's a possibility too, I have one variety that curls when it's not warm enough.
Which one is that Cala? A versicolor?
No, a suaveolens believe it or not! A yellow one. Long story behind that one, lol. It was supposed to be an aurea and isn't.
Don't you just love surprises? LOL
