Grrrr . . .

Grass Lake, MI(Zone 5a)

It has been so nice the last few days that yesterday I finally started moving some of the bigger brugs out, repotting etc. Today started out great . . this afternoon had a nice soft rain and then out of nowhere came a heavy heavy downpour and very high winds. Hadn't seen anything like it, no chance to do anything. Thought a tornado was coming through, needless to say my one whiskers seedling (seed from Glory) that was a good 8' tall is now about 10"shorter. I have top piece sitting in water. It had not Y'd yet. Tis so sad. I'm sure it would have been a site to see.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

oh man :( that's why I'm going to stake mine. We get some pretty rough winds too. so sorry, it's still early though and you have plenty of time. (and now an extra piece!)

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Oh Deb....... so sad! Our weather has been weird also this last week! Today was cold, yesterday was gorgeous!

WaterlooLily, I know it's not much consolation but when she finally blooms you will have twice as many flowers! Plus a second plant your now rooting ... I hate it when this happens , been there done that as they say.... and just wanted to give you some support!

Oh Bummer.:( Now is the time they are all starting to grow Deb so I hope both parts grow fast for you and produce lots of flowers

Paxton, FL(Zone 8a)

I know the feeling. But now you'll have two and didn't have to struggle with cutting it yourself.

city?? lol sticks, AR(Zone 7a)

:( deep sighhhhhhhhhhhhhh sorry to hear it. Cheryl

Medford, NJ(Zone 6b)

I feel for you. The winds caught me by surprise a few days ago as well!

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Deb, so sorry to hear your seedling is broken, but now you have two! Maybe the top piece will bloom fast(and be short)

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

Debbie, i had tops snap off a few last year. a couple of them put out 3-4 branches where they were broken off. kind of intersting shape.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Deb, this happened to me with Dr. Suess. If your stalk sprouts close to the top, you will have a really tall plant. Probably ten foot before it blooms. As Arlene says, they can make an interesting shaped brug.

Hi Arlene,

Good to see you here again. You are here so infrequently. Miss you!!

Grass Lake, MI(Zone 5a)

Thanks all. Arlene it is so good to see you post. I can't believe this weather, since I got into work this morning they said there is a chance of snow flurries. Guess they go back inside when I get home. It would have just been interesting to see how tall it would have gotten before it Y'd and flowered. Could have been the perfect alley tree.

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

We're expecting snow again Wendsday....so much for spring.......

Waterloo,
That's ok....it will grow again and maybe bloom this time.

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

We are too CC. Could get several inches in the mts. It won't last though.

Angleton, TX(Zone 9a)

I think it will turn out to be a beautiful plant. I know it is disappointing when something like that happens.

Hey Arlene . . I have missed seeing you here. I hope this is a sign that you will begin posting regularly again!!
