I have a question?

san antonio, TX(Zone 8a)

When winter hit, first with the terrible wind storms, then with the freezes, of course my brugs looked like battered weeds, then my garden looked like a brug ghost town. I read Monika's book about potting them, then taking up the pots before the weather sets in to store them, but what are all of you doing with the big empty spots in your yards where the brugs were? It looked so empty...?

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

My empty spots were soon covered with 2 feet of snow.LOL

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

I am putting the dirt in black trash bags and putting right at the edge of the woods, then I'm going to put the bags back in come winter. Dont' know what those that have small yards might do.

san antonio, TX(Zone 8a)

Hehe...I didn't mean the holes in the ground...I meant the big empty gaps in the landscaping where the beautiful trees were between March and November! Hahaha!

High Desert, CA(Zone 8a)

get urself one of those huge imitation rock @ HD... to cover that big gap on the ground. i've seen them in various sizes. then during the winter time u got a rock garden... hehehehe. btw... they are very light, not heavy at all.

san antonio, TX(Zone 8a)

Hahahaha...if it's light, it'll blow away in the winter! Remember, I'm on the highest point with aquafer (sp?) canyon all around? The winds swirl up from the canyon right to my house! It might be better when my trees grow. Maybe they'll block some of the wind, but right now, most of my trees are less than a foot tall...seedlings, I'm afraid, cuz I'm cheap...haha!! And besides, what would I do with the fake rocks during the brug season?
Maybe I could grow some evergreen bushes, and just cut a wedge in the back side of them in the summer, and stick the brug pot in it during the warm months? They airplanes flying over my house will think I really like pacman, but I don't think anyone will notice except the neighbors on the other side of my back fence, right?
Hmmm...that could work...but what kind of evergreen bushes? Are there any that bloom in the winter? That would be cool!!

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

I don't go out in the winter:) so I just look out the window and miss them:) lol

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

Just stick some dead branches in the empty spaces and pretend you have bare naked brugs ....LOL

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

Masses of snow covers my garden in the winter.....no place left for plants!

san antonio, TX(Zone 8a)

Hahaha...you girls are no help!!

Hey Monika! I love...no, I LOVE your book!!!!! I'm learning soooo much from it. The only bad thing is that now I keep looking at and wishing for brugs I will never, ever get here, like the 'kliene lady', 'troika', 'bolero', or 'fandango'!!! And I heard that ordering from you is like trying to smuggle an illegal alien across the border, is this true????

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

No its not. Finland belongs to the EU and there are no restrictions like ordering from the US or Canada. For Finland I would recommend Natascha as Kleine Lady is very sensitive, Bolero and Fandango have a waiting list.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

now meiyu, you just have to get to Finland:)

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

Sorry, I mixed up meiyu with mitjo LOL! I was still under shock when I posted.... suppose to get snow tonight!

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

oh no!!!! are yours still in the greenhouse????

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

Most of them are still inside. About 40 are outside, have to bring them in again.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

I'm so sorry. I hope it will be short and sweet and then spring for good.

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

The sun still shines but the wind has become even stronger and is blowing from the east. Its already cooling off.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Those east winds usually bring lots of moisture here. I hope you don't get a lot of snow. Gosh, it has just got to get warm and stay that way very soon.

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

WOW.I can't even think about bringing one of mine out yet....

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Meiyu, I too have my eye on a few of Monika's.........Bolero has always been one of my favs. Maybe we should move to Finland!

If only I knew enough to have ordered these before the US changed all the laws.

Oh well, too late now, still this summer we will be suffocating in incredible brug pictures from the US!

Angleton, TX(Zone 9a)

It is so hard for me to imagine that so many of you are still having very cold weather. I have been working all week in the yard and I am already tired of the sweat running down my forehead and burning my eyes. It has been 90-92F here. I have to come into the house to cool off so right now I wish some of you could blow some cool air down this way!

High Desert, CA(Zone 8a)

Franny, as u know i am in Calif. believe it or not, three nights ago, it was snowing! then 2 nights in a row we have frost. daytime high is in the 50ish and night time goes down to upper 20's. this is the longest winter i've experience so far. u can take all these cold weather Franny LOL! my rheumatism sure does not need it. the strong winds outside, kept me exiled inside the house for days!

san antonio, TX(Zone 8a)

So, what y'all are telling me is that this Texan cannot, no how, no way, ever order Monika's brugs? I'd read Kell and some others at one time talking about permits and something about brug cops watching your house for 2 years, and a bunch of wild stuff. But what would happen if a couple of pieces of some brugs fell into my bag while in Denmark, hijacking its way to Texas, unknown, of course, to me? I mean, would it really be a big deal to bring a couple of unrooted 2-in cuttings home, or would I get put in prison or fined thousands of dollars or something? And didn't anyone bring any of those brugs to the US before whatever laws your talking about changed? Surely there's someone somewhere that might have one or two? If you get an address, I'll volunteer to drive there with scissors!!! Hahahaha!!!
