With the 3 days of warmth here they have popped up about 4inches and now we are at 25 with the windchill and freeezing rain is in the forecast(oh happy me)for early tomorrow morning.
Should I cover them??? This is notmartha's first time with crowned imperials!
Crowned Imperials...
Maybe you have a big plastic bucket that you could cover them with? Secure it with a brick on top and some dirt around the bottom so it won't blow away.
When mine came up last year I covered them and guess what none of them bloomed. This year they came up, we got snow that covered them at their smallest, then they got about 5" and we had several frosts and they are now beginning to bloom. I first found them in CT and they never covered them. I really think that the plastic cover caused them to keel over.
In other words, I'll never cover mine again.
