The Musa is starting to grow. The woody steem behind the Musa is Monikas old Rothkirch, the brugflower is Kurpark Bad Salzschlirf. The steem top left is Touch of Apricot and the long steem at the right side is Amber Rose. All is starting to grow and to bloom, I love springtime.
Perfekt Mixture
I also love it when the first signs of new leaves and sprouts start showing. A sure sign that spring is here. We've waited so long for it.
I just love the look a banana has. Can't wait to grow some this year. The four in the greenhouse are doing very well for being plugs when I bought them. Yours looks so healthy. Oh yes, my daffs opened up today. That really makes me think "spring".
Terry, thatīs true, this winter was very bad and long.
Shirley, our daffs are going, cherrytrees start to flower
My cherry tree died a few years ago, but the apricot trees were in bloom last week when it was so cool, so no bees, no fruit. I think we are close to brug planting time. Crossing my fingers anyway.
Sorry for the apricotflowers, my tree died last winter...
I'd much rather have sour cherry trees, but we have lost three of them and are getting too old to go through the planting procedure now.
I find spring so energizing as I see new life come back to so many things. It certainly creates new anticipations in so many of us. Love that musa.
Ludger...I can't remember as I gave so many away! Did I send you this Banana plant last year?
It's Ensete Ventricosum 'Maurelli'!
Nope, you told me that a Maurelli and a Basjoo would be too much for Brugseeds and cuttings.I received a Musa basjoo,an aureahybrid( still growing fine) and a seedling from a mediterain plant ( forgot the name, frost catched it,sorry)
My Maurellis I got from a german adress, he is a Musafan and fell in love with Brugs after visiting me. Now he crafted my sangs for me and cares my flavas and arboreas.
I donīt have the time to do.
I love bananas, wish I had room to grow more of them. The shade is encroaching on our land and I have to save all the sun I can for the brugs.
Musa basjoo v.sachalin is growing in shadow. I guess some Musas you can grow outside..no moving for overwintering.
There are some hardy ones, we had one in the co-op that was hardy to zone 4. Musa Basjoo.
I might have to try a few in some shade this year and see how they do.
Jeanne, you are sooooo lucky!
Lucky girl! Its still frosty here at night.
I have had all my musas inside, cool rooms with light.First year with musas,am a newby..
Jeanne, please do you have a picture from musella lasiocarpa?
I do not know it.
Thank you Jeanne.
Awww...I so wish I had Mussella Lasiocarpa! Ludger...Did I not send you any Bananas? I was nearly sure I did! Did I send you anything?
I'm too far north for Musa. Frosted again last night. I didn't realize it was going to get so cold. Forgot to move my little flat of just nicely started Lab Lab beans and so they go frosted. Hope some will live. Must go now to listen to tonights frost forecast. Donna
sorry to hear about your frost rutholive :(---lost a bunch of my seeds as I do most every year,--start them in the house in Dec. and sacrife them to JACKFROST the spirit of haste --- lab lab beans? What is it? :S is it edible, ornamental or recreational? its too much fun to say outloud. guess Ill have to surf that one up. lab lab beans ?:) hmmmm?
Lab Lab beans are Purple Hyacinth beans, have purple blooms and purplish leaves and vine. They are annuals and grow quite rapidly. Didn't check mine this morning, hope at least a few lived through the frost. Donna
