Here is a flat of seedlings that I've started from friend's seed. I'm so out of room that they are having to grow sitting on the floor in the greenhouse. I took them outside a couple of days ago and the wind burned the leaves on a couple of them, so now I'm walking around them again. When our winds drop, they will go out again. These are now in four inch pots by 5 inches deep. Their homes for at least two or three more weeks. Will be planting out about 50 seedlings. No room for more than that.
Seedling flat....one of them
those look great, I'm moving the rest of my seedlings out right now! cause I have to get up from here:) lol! I've been telling myself all day to get on it.
and very healthy looking
Nice looking healthy seedlings. I've been out putting mine in gallon pots since I can't plant out till the end of May.
I have a lot of them in gallon and bigger now. Here is a picture of some of the bigger ones that I've got up against the shed to protect them from the wind. Even the tall one is a seedling. My personal favorite...Pink Beauty X Butterfly. My first cross. I don't know how it got so crooked. Am hoping the sun will straighten it up when I can get it out into it more. I have brugs in the garage, brugs in the greenhouse, brugs in the familyroom and in the front room window and a ton of them in the basement under light. I know I've lost it.
Shirley, nice tray :) They look real good and in good growth. Great also to note the different plant colors and different leaf types. I just studied that in the GH and try to learn which crosses develop wich leaf type combinations. Ours are in 4½ # pots, but even we have it warm now it is too windy to put them outside.
Thanks everyone....I'm going to go make a pizza now. See you all later.
hehehe vaguely familiar scene!
Are we back??? I am so happy!!!!!! I know I am still a novice, but I love reading the posts! It made me terribly sad to see my friends and this forum split. I had no idea where I should post so I didn't. My love of Brugs came alive because you first shared one with me, Shirley. It is SO awesome to see you thrilled about new ones!
there you go, that's how I feel too:)
We are back, just kinda hit a rough spot in the road. Ask away Michele........lots of people would love to answer your questions....yes, the pizza is ready to go into the oven. Even got some fresh green onions out of the garden to put on it. Making myself hungry here..... LOL!!
Yam Yam, I want a pizza...
Shirley, your seedlings look better than mine do, I have to hurry up with repotting and caring them.
LOL...Now I'm hungry too.LOL
Pizza :) drooling here *lol* I just love them homebaked *lol*
See what you did Shirley. There will probably be many new keyboards bought tomorrow from the drool problems that your pizza created. LOL. Pizza sure sounds good.
Drolling on the pizza and that flat of Brugs!!
Well, it was pretty darned good pizza. I think it beats the kind you ordered and pick up.
Thanks Ludger for the compliment. It has to be the good crosses I have because I do nothing special except to make sure they don't get too thirsty. I find it is good for plants to go somewhat dry though from time to time. It makes stronger stems or stalks on them.
Shirley, you got it.No secret but true!!!
Oh my goodness Shirley, you sure have your work cut out for you. . . LOL No doubt, you are going to have to get the plow going. Uh .. I won't mention anything about you loosing it!!! All kidding aside, I hope you get some real beauties out of those babies.
shirley--what wonderful brugs--i thought i had plants everywhere--my gosh shirley how do you move in your house--if you run out of room ship them my way--im very impressed--you go girl!!!!
What nice looking babies! Looks like they are trying to make a run for freedom! When can you get them in the ground?
Cheryl, when you get here, you will see that it hasn't been easy this winter. I need to get them in the ground bad, but will have to harden them off for a while and with tomorrow nights temps going down into the mid thirties, it may be a while. Kristi, usually I can safely plant out the first week in May. I do watch the forecast for the upcoming seven days to make sure it will be okay. More tender tropicals like hibiscus have to wait a while longer. At least until the soil temp is at 65 or more.
Can't wait to see what you get for flowers this year Shirley.
LOL Shirley - what does Jim say about having no place to sit?!!!
Kay, I've left him a chair in the family room with a direct view to the TV. He just thinks I'm nuts, but that's okay. He enjoys the fruits of my labors even if he only tells others and not me.
Lol,reading this I feel at home, lol.Same here sometimes...
I may not use the bathroom for brugs,cry..
No room is off limits except our bedroom. And as long as there are none between his recliner and the tv, mine's happy:) but God love him, he digs holes, lets me spend whatever I have to on them, listens to my tales of woe....
Sounds like a great guy Bonnie.
as does Jim:)
Brugie, nice flat of seedlings, you have something to lookforward to all summer. But you sure made me hungry talking about your pizza. Wish I had a piece. I have to contend with a lot wind here too. Goodluck with all your seedlings. Donna
Thanks Donna,
Wish I could send you a slice of pizza, but afraid it is long gone. I hope everyone has great luck with their brugs this year. I think we could have a lot of great new ones to look forward to trading before long.
50 seedlings from someone special I hope. Are they all the same cross? Those seedlings sure look healthy whatever the cross.
Lookin' good S.
Makes us all want to get to growing and making them bloom fast! Have to see if we have something really good, or if it's back to the drawing board.
They are all special seedlings. Not all from the same cross, but most of those are. I'm really looking forward to growing these out, especially my own. First timer, you know.
Brugie, I can't wait to see what your first time crosses yield. I sincerely love to see first attempts and with so many I know you'll get lucky.
