Journal, Thursday. May 24

Hughesville, MO(Zone 5a)

I can't believe I am the one who has to start the journal today!! Surely there is one in there somewhere from KathyJo that I didn't see.
Shadoe is with his mom and family for a few days. I took him up to meet her Tuesday evening. I know I was looking forward to just Jack and I for a few days, but he could have come home last night and I would have been thrilled. Not that I don't want him with them, but when a child lives with you for prolonged periods of time you tend to start thinking of the child as your child. He and his mom lived with us until she married his stepdad when he was 3. We were to have adopted him at birth but she backed out and kept him. She is a wonderful mother, but Shadoe is not an easy child to cope with in some ways. Being an only child works well for him and his family is much calmer and more peaceful since he is only there for visits. His stepdad would really like for him to come back and live with them, but Shad & his mother say "No". Anyway, I MISS HIM ALREADY!
Yesterday at PG I did lots of repotting. Also brought home a few dozen more tulip bulbs(and left a few hundred)as well as a couple dozen Rhubarb Swiss Chard, lettuce, mustard and Boc Choy plants. Most of them were left at a neighbor's home for them to plant and use this summer. I just kept a few for us and another friend. My supervisor me some starts of neat plants so I have plenty of plants to get in the ground when I come home this afternoon.
I took the youngest baby chicks to another volunteer at PG yesterday. We have a nice small pet carrier so they lived in it from Tuesday afternoon until yesterday afternoon when she left for home. Age range was from 2 days to 3 weeks. She really wanted them for her son who lives on a farm and wanted some banties.
I really need to get started on the day. Have a blessed and wonderful day, everyone.
