You people don't pay us enough to keep tabs on the fighting factions that are constantly coming up on this site, and, frankly, I'm sick of hearing about it.
So, like a kindergarten teacher, I'm separating you two.
We now have two new brug forums:
Brug Faction 1
and
Brug Faction 2
Read the first post to decide where you belong. There won't be any crossing between the two. Let's keep this clean. Constantly cleaning up after the children gets pretty old and pretty lame.
I considered calling them "BGI" and "ABADS" but thought that would be going a bit far. Instead they have the generic name I gave them, and it's up to you the member to decide which faction you fit into.
And, for the nice folks that never cause any trouble (you know whether or not this is you... if you have no idea what precipitated this post, then you probably qualify here) are probably going to be welcome in BOTH factions.
Dave
This forum is no more.
This is the E-mail I sent to a number of members just now. I sent it to members who I feel might especially benefit from its message.
Dave
---------------------------------
Good afternoon,
I trust that my point has been made with the drastic move I made
the past couple days with the brug forum(s) at DG.
Soon I will be reinstating the Brugmansia and Friends forum,
hopefully putting a final end to the problems.
This E-mail is to serve you notice that the next time problems
arise, my solution will be different. The solution next time is
to first serve an "official" warning, followed by a removal of
the offending party from the Brug forum(s) at DG. I will no
longer punish the entire group for the actions of a single
person.
So, let's keep it clean, and, if we feel tempted to cause
problems, it's best that we simply take our hands off the
keyboard and move along. I suspect that there are people that
you will want to avoid, and if that's what it takes, then do it,
for the sake of this community.
In hope for a friendly future,
Dave
Dave, I can not thank you enough for your decision :D
Jipppeeee! C`mon everybody. Partytime.
Thank you Dave, it was earthshattering when it was gone!!!
I know I am still new to Brugs and sometimes I get few or no answers when I post, unless it is from people that know me and my extreme love of anything that flowers. even if it is a 'sympathy' post. LOL With my little one being ill and me working third shift, I have missed so much. I tend to like everyone until they give me a reason not to and that does not happen much. I hope the problems here can be solved and that everyone can be friends or at least tolerate each other. I was so sad when I saw the posting about split forums that I just could not post anywhere, even though I was terribly excited about my babies that made it through the winter. Maybe if everyone could just follow the simple rule of "If you have nothing nice to say, say nothing at all.", we could all get along? There is so much to learn and so much to share!!!! Please call a truce.
Think of this as a new or fresh start! Let's ALL shake hands, give each other a few smiles, a few "Sorry" hugs and now let the Brug chat begin! Yipeeee..LOL! :o))) I really missed each and every one of you!
Thank you Dave for putting things "back together" again. I read here daily but rarely post because I have read some posts that lead me to believe that there was some uneasyness in the fourm. I am not really sure why there is a problem but I know that I didn't want to get involved or even worse, say something that would be taken wrong without even knowing it. I seem to always end up with my foot in my mouth, hehe. All I know is that (being fairly new to brugs)I have gotten a lot of great information here (as well as some cuttings)from so many different people and I hate to see that go away or be split.
Thank you!
Ah, I'm so happy that this forum is back together again. I don't post here very much either, but I read and learn. I am new to brugs. I started with a seed last year and grew one! Then I was hooked. I have gotten some cuttings from some wonderful people here and wintered them over in the dormant stage, in the crawl space of our house. I brought them out about 3 weeks ago to put in the windows and start growing again. I lost some, but I managed to get 6 plants to go dormant, live through the winter and come back again. I'm so happy, and it's definitely a start to another plant addiction. Next winter I hope to have a better survival rate, as I know some things that I could have done differently.
Looking forward to learning lots more about brugs from all you good folks.
Hugs,
Joan
Thanks Dave.
Dave, my English is not so great.....and I want to ask dit I understand it right. do you mean that I should (and everybody other) choice other forum of those two post only on there?
if that`s so....I dont really understand....why? would be better that everybody share information together....
Mitjo, hopefully we are back to sharing information together, on the Brugmansias and Friends Forum. The Faction Forums are 'locked' and will soon be forgotten. Please tell us all about your Brug growing in Finland! John
It would be interesting to hear about your brugmansia growing in Finland. I live in a middle mountain range of Germany.
Mitjo, nice healthy looking seedling! You are off to a great start. Do you know what cross your seedlings are?
Thanks!
it`s white Suaveolens x Insignis pink. is it good species?
Its a good species. How are the summers in Finland! When is the latest date for frost and the earliest in the fall?
Beưng out of the loop I wasnt aware of strưfe, Ư hope ưt has been settled, Thưs ưs one of my favorưte forums, I don,t post much ưn here because I am a novưce, I hope to become better once I am settled ưnto thưs med clưmate.
I hope we can all get along so that the forum ưsnt cancelled.
Different keyboard overseas, pebble? Interesting.
Mitjo, it will be very interesting to see what color and shape flowers you get! Please keep us posted!
It just occurred to me that THIS is Brugmansias and Friends at its best! In a very short time, (17 inutes!) we just shared information and had a Brug dialogue among people in Finland, Germany, Turkey, and the United States. Is that fabulous, or what?
Its fabulous John!
Yes,I agree.
John, don't forget Ireland and Canada too. :~))
We are on a roll now!!
nice to hear!
summer in Finland could be hot and long....or rainy and not so long...but still it`s great everytime (just bragging...it`s not great everytime).....here`s some weather marks.....like rowan berrys...is there´s is much of those it`s will be cold winter........
Finaland weather is not the best one for plants...summer is too hot and short usually..and winter is too cold, dark and long.
I think that last day which we could keep plants (like house plants) outside is on beginning of october.
The first snow and frost comes often in the first October week. September is mostly cool and wet.
Mitjo...Is this one of my hybrid seeds from Ludger? My Suaveolens White and Insignis pink are permanantly planted out in my garden because I don't use them for hybridising! I don't know what but something managed to pollinate them. We have hundreds of tiny bats here...Does anyone know if Bats like brugs?
I believe when there are many bats there are much insects the bats want to catch. The insects should pollinate.
Bruno, not your hybrids.Mitjo got other crosses from me.
WoW...... this is like comming home and finding out my wife's mad at me and not having a clue what I have done and shes not telling..... Well I guess its better looking through rose color glasses and not know what had happen now its going to bug me Ho well keep up the good work dave glade your on top of things
hehe, Pete, have you ever done that? (come home to her mad....)
I seldom post here...but read a lot...so thanks for all the help I'm getting! Farizona brought me 4 brugs she had started from seeds that Calalilly had sent her...I'm to share them with neighbors...(I think she doesn't want to take a chance on me letting them ALL die!)....and I have started some seeds about 2 weeks ago...AND THEY ARE PEEPING UP!! Now...how long do I leave them in these wee little paper pots before transfering them to a bigger one?? Jo
Jo, let them become almost root bound before you move them into a bigger pot. When you do bump them up, don't go big yet. Then let them get lots of roots all around the outside of the soil before you move them again. I think someone said that when you have to water more than twice a day, it is okay to move them to bigger pots.
HMMMM...Brugie....it sounds to me like these plants need more attention than a baby! I thought they were akin to Datura...and they just fend for themselves here in Arizona! LOL Thanks for the advice. Jo
I'm not sure what your weather is like in your part of AZ, but here in Iowa they require a lot of water and fertilizer. Then there is the constant watch for bugs. Seedlings are a lot of fun to raise because you get so excited when they get ready to open that first bloom. Since no two seedlings are exactly alike, it is hard to tell what you might get. I wish you the best of luck with your brug babies. I can't wait to get mine outside and really growing. Have fun!!
correct, this seeds I got from Shirley1md....if I remember right...
