flopped dump cake

OK!!

I made this dump cake, supposed to be soooo easy, put the pie filling and fruit in the bottom, then cake mix, then nuts and dot with margarine...

So it comes out with most of the cake mix dry and yucky and all the nuts scorched...

What did I do wrong?

I tried posting this before but all it said was OK...sorry about that! I don't know what I did wrong. But your advice would be helpful.
