i would love to have this plant as well but most of them arent hardy in my zone but would love to find one that is does anyone know where one is or if there is such a thing? plmk

The only hardy bottle brush is the Hardy Red, Callistemon sieberi 'Powell's Hardy Red' and it is only hardy to zone 8a, possibly 7b with major steps to protect it from the cold. Hope this helps :-)

do you have any idea where i could get one? plmk and thanks for the help

I have a hardy Bottlebrush plant, and I consider myself zone 4/5. I argue with myself every year whether or not to pull it out and toss it. Its very untidy. I'll see how it comes up this year and I could send a small division (SASE or trade) if you like as long as we're talking about the same plant? Mine has jagged leaves and drooping stalks of pink flowers. Don't have the botanical name, but I think I have a pic I could email.

Here is a link to a hardy one to zone 7. I have bought plants from here and would highly recommend them:

jcf: sure; I'll post here when they are rooted:)
moretz: I tried seaching for nurseries in the US that carry them; maybe you can get your local nursery to order it wholesale from here: http://www.vanvloten.net/cal_pityoides.htm and http://www.vanvloten.net/cal_subulata.htm
C. subulatus is also avaliable from http://catalogs.google.com/catalogs?num=50&hl=en&lr=&ie=ISO-8859-1&safe=off&q=callistemon+subulatus and http://216.239.57.100/search?q=cache:q3BhD1KJtEcC:www.cistus.com/cistus2003earlyversion.pdf+callistemon+subulatus&hl=en&ie=UTF-8
Good luck:)
